I came up with this one ages ago after watching the kids bouncing around gaming.  I knew it would be challenging visually and I didn't feel I had the chops for it at the time, so I left it on my ideas list.  There it sat until last month when our oldest celebrated his 9th birthday.  He asked for a gaming party at home and we delivered.  Our house filled to the brim with bouncy gaming boys, I realized quite how on point the joke was and resolved to draw it!

Our youngest (6) and hubby are all about Halloween, (oldest and I like it too, but we're not AS obsessed!) so they both stalk the shops in August waiting for the Halloween merch to land.  Target is the avocado of Halloween shopping (it's not there, it's not there, it's THERE! It's all gone!) so they make multiple trips to try to catch it in time.  They went the other day and the result was this comic minus Vincent.  I loved 6yo's "Howibble" reaction, but wanted a bit more punch...

Making of "Chicken Strip"

Good news everybody!  I figured out making time-lapse videos in Clip Studio!  I'd tried other methods of screen recording before, but they were always a pest because I stop and start comics a lot (#momlife!) and would have to knit the videos together afterwards with low levels of success.  The way Clip does it is masterful though!  Just toggle on recording and the finished movie looks like it was all done in one sitting!  Unfortunately I didn't think to turn it on unt...

Making of "Hatchlings (remastered)"

This is a remaster of a comic from 2019.  I often worry they're not going to change that much, but then I look at the side by side and can't believe how much difference a bunch of tiny tweaks makes!

As well as redrawing all the linework and adding shadows, I reworked the speech bubbles, moving "It has it's pros!" to the 1st panel to make the punchline punchier.  A bit more rearrangement allowed me to make the moms bigger -the croc mom even more so.  I changed Fran's expre...

Still have to figure out a bonus panel, but wanted to get this early release comic to you guys!  This one actually happened, but replace "brothers" with "siblings" and the show was "Gravity Falls"!

For the bonus, I was going to have them both being friends when Fran leaves because that's how it feels like it happens, but J didn't get the joke.  All worried now because if people have to pay for bonus panels, I need them to be good!  Maybe all comics don't need bonus panels...

There's a challenge on Twitter to draw your character drinking a Grimace Shake and dying.  If I was my character, this is exactly how it would go down.  

Tried my best to speed draw this as it's a silly throwaway comic. Also of note, I cannot vouch for the shake being "yummy" yet, but Fran enjoys Peeps when I don't, so I figure she'd like whatever this nonsense is!

Few Changes Around Here

July marks the end of my deal with Webtoon to release comics there before anywhere else.  That means $5 and up subscribers will once again enjoy early release comics!  Woohoo!
