The dog family were a great excuse to explore family relationships that aren't there with the cats.  I thought a teen girl would be easy to write for because I could just draw from my own experiences, but I quickly realized that things have changed somewhat since the 90s!  Cue the months long journey of trying to write for a modern teen!  All my ideas were coming from a very naggy "She's always on her phone!" kind of place and I didn't want to be that dull and OLD! 😆

Teen Dog!

It finally happened!  I came up with a Dog Comic about the teen girl dog!  I'm still working on it and it might be a little late because summer holidays hit, but here she is!  

She's Bunny's daughter from a previous marriage.  I was worried that I made her too 90s because that was when I was a teen, but J pointed out the 90s have come back around again, so huzzah for being old and current! 😄

KC Greens famous "This is fine" comic pops into my head all the time when the kids are playing Minecraft.  They can do such weird things and you have to make a choice between reacting and potentially highlighting it, or ignoring and hoping they move onto something else.

I LOVE Cheetos!  I could eat those knobby orange sticks forever if they weren't so terrible for me!  While ordering a Firehouse Sub, it struck J that they were the "healthy" choice of chip, because he knew he wouldn't get to eat many of them!

For the comic version I upped the ante!  I made it so he wouldn't get to eat ANY of them (instead of many) and I added the kids for maximum silly faces.  They like Cheetos too, but at a normal kid-level, rather than the insatiab...

Crikey the linework on Bluey things is always so hard!  I assume they work in vector which would make it easier, but I hand draw it, so it's very unforgiving!

Silly Preview

Had writers block the last couple of days.  I get this from time to time where nothing I write is funny and I hate it all.  I suspect it might be hormonal because after a few days suddenly the exact same scripts are good again.  I stubbornly tried to fight through it yesterday and just ended up frustrated with absolutely nothing to show for it.  I thought I'd try a different tactic today and do some non-comic things!

Every year I worry I might have run out of superhero ideas -or rather, DOABLE ideas!  I have plenty of epic storylines I could do with my super-team, but cutting it down to fit in a manageable comic is where the real super-power lies!
