you can see my very rough concept in sketchup [which is a nightmare to use btw because it is NOT a 3d program, it's 2d pretending ot be 3d but any "3d" objects are just 4 planes and hollow/empty inside]

you can see how the process pretty much went from here. artists are told by fandom hobbyists that to use 3d or references or stock photos, it's wrong and bad. that tracing is bad, that all of it is bad and that using tools is considered "not real art"

Defunct drakes

Northern drakes are now defunct and any existing designs will be shuffled into one of two categories. Tropics or Southerns.

The decision wasn't made lightly, however it was an easy one (despite having finally sketched the entire northern ref sheet out)

I'll try to as briefly as possible, summarize the reason for this decision.

1. Northerns were made only to satisfy a small practically nonexistent group of people.

so the northern sheet will take a while because they're quite different from the other subspecies, way more hairy and drawing all that fur takes 5-ever.

the southern drake ref is coming along slowly. anyone can already tell there are some very obvious differences between the races/culture of southern/tropic. I aim to make all 3 subspecies [excluding aberrants & soulless] unique

southern traits as of 2023:

*longer and larger ears than any other subspecies

*short fur, no plumes

*pale/sandy colored coats or reddish/brown coats

*shorter horns than any other species on a...
