Simple Art Tips

One of the most common things I notice when teaching students is that beginners tend to focus exclusively on depicting volume. While conveying volume is important, expressing it in a refined way is even more crucial. Try focusing on highlights, reflected light, ambient light, and texture rather than just light and shadow. Your artwork will become much richer.

It's been a long time.

I've been struggling to fundamentally improve my drawing skills, but it's not easy to find a breakthrough. This might be the biggest crisis I've faced in my years of studying art.

Honestly, I've had a tough time dealing with a cold for a while, so I couldn't work much. I'm feeling better now.

Time really flies by so quickly.

I've made a tutorial of the character illustration I recently created, detailing each step and the important aspects I consider when drawing.

I use this guide when teaching students, and I believe it can be helpful for all of you too.

WIP Video

I have recorded the process of my illustration work in progress. It's about 20 minutes long.

Light Practice

I call this the light croquis (probably Broken English) 

It's an exercise that helps you understand light.

1. I start looking for dark colors

2. Never do a small detail first.

3. Never enlarge canvas. (It's better to have the same canvas size as the picture.)

4. If it's too difficult, you can start the sketch by tracing the picture in advance.

(It takes more practice to just do it)
