For today's Mermay I combined both Southeast Asian Patterns specifically the Philippines and shapes from the sea! 😃I didn't know it was also #Maysia, so I wanted to combine Mermay and celebrate the culture of the Philippines (which is where I'm from!) 🇵🇭
This piece took a long time because I had to do some research on some patterns and textiles! I ended up going down the rabbit hole and ended up saving a bunch of pretty embroide...

Lately, I've been really enjoying doing paintings with an overhead lighting source I think really highlights the key areas! I think they're super beautiful so I wanted to try incorporating the fishtail design into the mermaid's tail!

For today's Mermay, I made a jellyfish mermaid for a change and it's inspired by the snow-capped mountains in Patagonia!
Lately, I've been feeling pretty frustrated with my ideas as things aren't working as how I envisioned it. I was struggling with the resting pose for a while so I had to scrap the idea and work with the flow of the mountain. I didn't want to scrap the whole painting so I had to come up with a new pose!

We're halfway there!! I made a landscape mermaid today and I really enjoyed painting this one! I love blending orange and blue hues together and throwing in pinks that's why I love painting winter scenes so much since I can always add hints of pink! Also, I can't help but add a little house to these landscape scenes! 😊
