OStim Standalone 7.3a

I did yet another thing

Now that there's a page that lets you edit settings on a per actor basis I thought it was time to implement a feature that I have been wanting to do for a while:
A preference system. This allows you to modify how stimulating an action or event is for an actor. And that on a per actor basis. So every actor can now have their own preferences when it comes to OStim.

I did another thing

Maybe not as big of a breakthrough as the first thing I did, but a thing non the less. I've been working on the MCM and added a new "Actors" page, which will give you a drop down selection of all the actors currently in the room with you.
In there you can then fine tune the stats of individual actors to your liking, like for example you can select a different voice type for the actor to use. So no more need to be sad that the voice type of your follower of choice isn't supported.

Remember this new feature I mentioned that I didn't want to go into detail about? Well after several days of going through reverse engineered code, reimplementing already existing functionality so I could modify it slightly and hooking into existing code that I wasn't able to fully reimplement but still needed to modify I finally managed to pull it off.

It's the Christmas season and while for some that means they've got some time off and can enjoy Skyrim full time for me it means I'll be busy the next week spending time with family and friends.

I've worked some overtime recently so next weeks early access release is save, but I most likely won't be working on any new features before next year.

I'm working on it

As you might know OStim isn't just a mod, it's a framework. The key point in that is that it has a lot of features for addon authors. And it constantly is getting more. Just now I made some improvements to the event system so that now mods can differentiate between spanking the left and the right cheek. This was important because Aetti and Moon want to work on spank marks. So soon you'll probably be able to spank that booty into a nice and warm tone of red.

Dynamic Character Appearance Version 1.0a

What does this mod do?
It allows you to set up a dynamically changing color for your hair and RaceMenu overlays. This can be based on either current health, stamina or magicka or just loop in a rainbow pattern. In this first version it only works on the PC, not NPCs. This mod is not at all finished, but I think it's good enough for a first release.

Well, I did it. The next beta has dynamic colors for Race Menu overlays. You can create different rules for every overlay so you can mix and match them as you like.

With that out of the way all I have to do is some cleaning up and then I'll be releasing the first official version next week. So stay tuned!

Since I got quite a bit of positive feedback on my ideas last week this is going to be my project for the next month or two, depending on how long it takes.

I've managed to add a color changer that is based on current health, stamina or magicka instead of just cycling colors like a rainbow. So you can use your hair color as a stat indicator now. Also I added an MCM to configure everything.

It is done!

OStim Standalone version 7.1 is finally out. I directly released it to Nexus without doing early access on Patreon because it's basically just bug fixes and API functions for addon authors. So there isn't really anything new to see for end users until someone makes use of these new API functions, like the new in scene dialogue system. But once people do make use of it you'll see how amazing it is.

What's going on?

I think I'm done with the sound stuff. This time for real. It still will take a while before Migal gets his stuff done. But the next release of OStim Standalone shouldn't take that much longer. It also contains a lot of fixes, like the search CTD, navigation menu fadeout time and face lights. All in all I've managed to fix a lot of bugs. I still have a little more work to do but I'm getting there, so if all goes well I'll be able to release the next OStim version next week! And then I'm final...

I thought I was done improving the sound engine but then Migal had a look at it and turns out there's still a few features missing and a lot of quirks that have to be ironed out. But we're certainly making progress and a lot of stuff is already working so I can tell you that the result of our united efforts to bring this to the next level certainly was worth the effort.

We're still working on getting the sound engine to where we need it to be to do all the stuff we want to do with it. We'll get there, it'll just take some time.
The end goal is that the OStim sound engine is about as powerful was Naughty Voices used to be, if not more powerful. So once we've gotten it all finished people will be able to create their own voice mods without any additional code. I've been cooperating with Migal to make some improvements the the sound engine in OStim and hopefully we can show off an advanced version soon. Since there's still all the legal trouble around 11labs there won't be any dialogue during scenes, but we intend to greatly improve the quality and variety of the sounds that we can play.

What's going on?

CK for Starfield might take another half year to release, people still haven't figured out how animations and meshes work. By the time everything is ready a lot of people probably already stopped playing Starfield. Not to mention that SFSE only works on the Steam edition and a lot of people play via gamepass. So there's a good chance the Starfield modding scene is dead on arrival. So that means more love for Skyrim and back to the grind.

I've been playing quite a lot of Starfield on the weekend and to cut it short it's not overwhelming, but it's also not horrible. Everything in there is still new to me so for now it's easy to sink a lot of time into it. I will have to see how much it is able to catch my interest in the long run, but I can see myself play it when needing a change from Skyrim every then and now.

So I'll definitely be porting OStim to Starfield, but how my attention will be distributed between it and Skyri...

so what's next?

We're still not done fixing all the bugs that come with OStim Standalone, but we're getting there.
After that I'm not sure there will be another major release of OStim Standalone, since it now contains all the stuff we wanted to add to it. There will probably still be added a lot to the API, but that's not something that you as end users will directly notice.

So from now on I will be spending more time on OStim addons. More SL animation conversions, some gameplay mods, some scene enh...

We're still trying to fix all the bugs. But some are nastier than others. Anyways there's a hotfix coming in the next few days. I'm just not sure yet how many bugs it will fix.

Also I'll be releasing something called the "Billyy Chair and Bench Pack for OStim Standalone" to the Nexus soon. All animations in there are already included in the SL Mega pack. So you don't need to get that.

I feel like OStim Standalone turned out pretty well (after we fixed all the crashes) and it has gotten a lot further in the past three weeks than I initially anticipated. So despite my initial plan I will most likely release it on Nexus next week, rather than a month after that.

Part of the reason for that decision is that in a month Starfield will just have come out and not a lot of people will be looking at the Skyrim Nexus for a while. So I better get it out before that.
