Dasha

We were using a reflector in these but I think we needed a little more sun to make it effective.  As you can see it was quite cloudy.

This is the last photo in this set that I'll post.  I like the conversion to black and white of the last photo.  I wasn't sure I would like it.  I may still try to lightem her face just a bit in Lightroom.

Ziva

And another one from the busted shoot.  Ziva is a great subject and very easy on the lens.

This was taken in Moab right before the ranger showed up and busted the whole group.  Actually, he just ran us off and fined the group shoot leader for not having a permit.  It seems like the feds these days forget who pays their salaries. :-(  We were waiting for the sunset but didn't make it.

Ashlynne

This set was shot in a penthouse suite in the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas.  Ashlynne flew in from Florida for this shoot and a follow-up shoot at Moab, Utah.  This was the first time I've worked with her and even with the first shoot jitters, I think it went pretty well.  We had various light setups to work with at some of the stations, and I actually did some lighting setup, which was a first for me.  There will be more from the shoot and Moab.

These were a couple of my favorite photos from this all day shoot.  There are a few more of Ashlynne, but IMHO these are the best of this set.

Bree

A little bonus post for my $5 plus patrons.  This was shot in Wyoming in October.  Bree had never been to Wyoming and I don't think she'll be coming back soon.  It was darn cold during this shoot.

St. Merrique

In January, Merrique and I set up an outdoor shoot.  She called me the night before the shoot and said it would probably be too cold to get any good shooting in, so could I find an indoor location.  I contacted Curtis Walker who manages Photo Bang Bang, a studio in Las Vegas, and asked if it would be available to rent for the day.  I highly recommend Curtis and Photo Bang Bang.  He said it was available and to come on down.  So I picked up Merrique and headed on over. &n...

Converting the previous photo to a black and white image. I really like how Merrique's pose works with the lighting here.  The lighting really accentuates her legs and overall shape.  I think you could turn this photo into anything you like, from color, to old time sepia, to a French Postcard.

I love to take a photo and turn it into the French Postcard look of the last century.  You take a photograph of a beautiful woman in lingerie, add a little grain, convert it to black and white, and then add some vignette around the border.  There you have it.  Of course it helps when the beautiful woman is the fabulous St. Merrique.

I just wanted to shoot simple black and white backgrounds with lights.  Curtis, the lighting master, helped me with the lighting.  I hope you enjoy the results.

Pure Rebel

It's interesting how events that have little to do with a shoot can negatively affect your perception of the shoot.  Rebel and I went out to and spent the day at Redstone and Lake Mead.  It was very hot and at the end of the shoot, my truck was overheating, to the point of boiling the oil in the engine.  Warning lights and buzzers were going off all over the place.  We were on a small two-track road and everything was fine once we got back to the asphalt and got some air goin...

It doesn't look it, but this was a very precarious pose.  The rock she was on was about 7 or 8 feet in the air.  I really like how the light behaves in open shade.  I had to tone the oranges down a little.

She has the most amazing eyes.  The rest of her is beautiful as well, but the eyes are what you first notice.  She's also a very accomplished film maker having won an award at the Seattle Film Festival for her full length feature, "Bring Something Sexy".  The film documents the life of a freelance art model.  You can get it on Vimeo.

It was very hot during this shoot, temperature wise, and Rebel added her own kind of heat to the shoot.  She is really a joy to shoot with and a wonderful model.  If you don't get a good photo, it's your fault :-)

I hope you've enjoyed this set with Rebel.  There's lots more to choose from and we'll be back posting them.

Vivian

The next few photos are all from a shoot with Vivian a couple of weeks ago.  She is partial to black and white images, but the color versions are good as well.  I hope you enjoy these photos.  As an aside, Vivian picked them out for processing since I don't do very well with that right after a shoot, although in this case, I think I could have done well in choosing photos since they were all so very good.

The next 4 photos are from a set I did with this wonderful model a couple of weeks ago.  Like I said in an earlier post, we shot over 800 photos over the 8-hour period, and only 2 are not fit for processing.  It was the photographers fault on those two.  Vivian is a dancer hailing from northern California and you can tell by her posing she is very good at what she does.

The color version of the photo.  We all agree that the black and white versions in this set are better, but the color versions are nice photos in their own right.

I really like how these black and white images turned out, particularly the crispness of the shadow.  Vivian prefers the black and white as well.

Another photo of this wonderful model.  This completes the 4 photo post of this set.  There will be more to come from this day.

Verronica

Verronica and I shot this set during the last week of November when she was in town.  The day actually turned out pretty nice for a photoshoot, not too hot or cold, and no wind.  It was a little chilly in the shade, but not bad.  I hadn't shot with Verronica for a couple of years so I was pleased that she got in touch with me, and we were able to set something up.  She lives in the pacific northwest and was lamenting how she didn't have any desert photos in her portfolio. &nb...

Ashlee

It was getting colder in November when this shoot was scheduled with Ashlee and Jessica.  The ladies were troopers and if you could find a spot out of the wind and in the sun it wasn't bad shooting.  Of course I'm saying that as the one with the clothes on :-))  The rocks were actually cold and weren't warming up.  In the summer months, the models can't lay down on the rocks, because they're so hot.  It never ceases to amaze me how the orcks, and especially the holes in ...

My last outdoor shoot for 2018, maybe.  Unless someone steps up to be an iron woman.  I've had a couple of volunteers. :-)) Marie hails from Canada so she wasn't freezing, but she was still cold.  We lucked out and went to the dry lake bed at 12:30 p.m., when usually the sun is unbearable and the light is very harsh.  It turned out cloudy with beautiful light the 2 hours we were there shooting.  I usually don't go to the lake bed during the afternoon, because it acts lik...

Another of these two very beautiful and talented women.

Jessica & Ashlee

One of the very first multiple model shoots I had included these two beautiful women.  They are besties and very easy on the camera.  Both are talented models.  They met me out at Redstone for a quick shoot.  It was a little chilly, but we found an out-of-the-wind spot to shoot some photos. You can tell by their hair it wasn't completely out of the wind.

Another photo of this talented model and beautiful woman.  I'm so glad I got to shoot with her and hopefully there will be more shoots in the future.

Every once in a while, you have a photo shoot that is just special where everything goes right.  This was one of those shoots.  Vivian and I had hooked up on Model Mayhem.  She hasn't been modeling all that long and her portfolio didn't have much in the way of desert outdoors photos.  I contacted her and asked of she would be interested in an 8-hour booking.  She agreed and asked me for additional photographer's names that might be interested in booking her in Las Vegas....

Another photo from my shoot with Merrique and Floofie on November 10.  I maintain that Merrique is the most beautiful of any of my subjects.  Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Another post with this wonderful model.  In a location I don't normally shoot in, because it's more difficult to get to.  I'll have to change that.
