More from Kate and I's shoot in the desert. She found this hole in the rocks and spent about 30 minutes going through various poses. To me this one suggests something along a religious theme, death or something like that. I don't know if it's her closed eyes, or outstretched arms, or both.

The emergence of beauty goes unheralded.
Kate and I shot for a few hours in the Nevada desert and as always Kate was an excellent subject. She hails from Canada and I hope to work with her again in the near future. I've been out shooting so I haven't had any time to post on here, but that should change. I have shoots scheduled with Ashley, Jessica, Floofie, and Merrique in the next few days. Stay tuned for posts. I also have shot with Freshie, an alternative...

From our shoot a couple of weeks ago. Her and I will shoot again this week along with Jessica out in Redstone Dunes. The first time Ashlee and I shot together was with Jessica. Stay tuned. I really like the little smirk Ashlee has on her face in this one.

Zoe and I (well actually Zoe) found this desert stream. According to Zoe, who had visited it a couple of days earlier, it wasn't flowing during her earlier visit. With the rainstorm we had earlier that day (see my earlier posts) it had a lot of water in it. We spent a few hours with Zoe posing along the numerous little waterfalls.

As I said in my last post a guy on a motorcycle showed up, so Gwen and I moved a little deeper into the woods. Gwen was a ballet dancer and it shows in the graceful poses she is able to achieve. She literally flows from one pose to the next. It is something to watch. You almost forget to press the shutter (I said almost :-)). This shoot was scheduled during the last week in September so it was a bit chilly when we met up so it wasn't a bad thing that we had to searc...

The first shoot I had with this wonderful model in the hills of Idaho. We spent the first two hours driving around looking for access to someplace we could shoot. Everywhere we went, we ran into locked gates. This was the only spot we found, but IMHO it was a good one. This is in the mountains overlooking Lava Hot Springs in the valley floor. One other person showed up while we were here, but he left on a motorcycle.

Sierra stopped in for a visit. She moved to Arkansas in January and hasn't been out west since her move. We had to go out for a quick photoshoot along with her new addition to the family. She's one year post-partum. I believe this is her first modeling trip since the baby and she still looks as beautiful as always.

The hits just keep on coming with this beautiful woman. We really did get quite a few great shots during this session. Her poses were very expressive and the light was just right.

Another model had recommended that she contact me and try to shoot with me. She and her bestie Rae were in Vegas for a fitness expo, and we set up a morning shoot in the desert. It was damn hot even in the early morning hours. Rae got a little overcome by the heat but Jenn powered through. We did most of our shooting in the shade though. As she was looking at her photos on the back of the camera, she remarked that her toe points had all been spot on. Go figure. :-) ...

I love shooting with this woman. She's so expressive in all of her poses and unless the photog messes up, it's always a great photo.

A bonus for my $5 subscribers. I'll be posting more of Ashlee. Yes that is blue hair. I like it a lot actually. At first glance I was a little taken aback by it, but it looks good against the orange desert walls.

As I said there are a lot more photos from this shoot to share with you all. This was her first real desert shoot and her and I nailed it. It was windy as you can see from her hair, but that's Nevada.

Another photo from my session with Zoe. Even though it was a little cool in Moab, Zoe and I spent the day creating some great art. It did warm up in the afternoon. This little pond in the rock was flowing water right after a rainstorm moved through the area, and we made the best of it. There's a lot more to come from this shoot. Zoe is such an outstanding model. If any of you ever have the chance to shoot her, I would highly recommend you take it.

The last time Ashlee and I worked together was about 4 years ago. It has been way too long. She's been busy modeling over in LA and in Vegas and I've kept track of her over the years but never found time to shoot with her again, my bad. She put out a broadcast that she was available to shoot for the next few days. I responded and we set this shoot up at one of my favorite locations. The last time we shot together was in studio. At the end of the shoot, we both...

Beautiful woman, most abstract beauty,
Not that beauty felt by eyes
Nor that skin or hair,
Not that grace or style, beautiful woman,
you are the beauty!
Just a bonus post for all of you.

Maddie has been modeling for 6 years but is only 20 years old. She lived for time in Japan and did high fashion work. She laughingly said that she was the tallest person in Japan but she is the bare minimum height for high fashion work. I think she really rocked the shoot with her poses and the setting. She has a lot of material for her portfolio, and we will work together again when she gets back this way. There's a lot more to be posted with this wonderful m...

As I've said in the past, I'm the world's worst picker of photos, especially right after a shoot. The emotion of the shoot gets in the way of selecting I believe. I generally ask the model to select some photos that they like and I'll process and send them right away. The others I generally let sit in the vault for a few months. I know a photographer that doesn't look at his photos for 6 months. I'm not that bad, but I do have to let them sit for a while. Thes...

I promised myself that I would work with some "new to me" models this year. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the models that I regularly shoot with but have literally thousands of photos that I haven't processed with them. Maddie contacted me via Model Mayhem and asked if I wanted to book a shoot with her while she was vacationing in Las Vegas. I said yes and as they say the rest is history. Maddie is Swedish and Japanese and up until now had wanted some desert photos for her ...

A little less trouble with the focus in this one but still struggling with lighting. I needed my friend CJW to help out with it. He's a lighting master. I posted this on Flickr but thought I'd post a larger version here as well. Just a little bonus post.

This was a two day workshop with the first day being more of the fine art/boudoir type photography, with this day consisting of more erotic material. I usually don't shoot this type of material, but the facilitator threw it in free, and as I said I've shot with Britt before so I knew she would be classy about it. You can tell that I was really struggling with focus and lighting here. I hope you enjoy these and there will be more to come.

I attended a workshop at Mandalay Bay a couple of weeks ago. You'll recall that this was the hotel where the shooter killed 51 people attending a music concert a little over a year ago. His room was on the other side from where we were. Britt flew in from Chicago to attend this workshop and one in Moab, Utah. I've been lucky enough to work with her before. She's just a character to shoot with and very photogenic. She's another one of my actresses and can curre...

I've shot with Ziva before but never in an outdoor setting. She is a petite fireball if that's not an oxymoron. She is great to work with and photographs very well. I worked with her a lot on this trip to Moab. Even though it was cold on this day, Ziva was always ready to go and willing to try most anything.

Ashlynne had wanted to do this shot all day long so at the end of the shoot, when makeup didn't matter any more, she jumped in. She had to walk back to the car wet and cold but said it was totally worth it. I have to agree.

This was taken at an abandoned hydro power plant near White River Falls, Oregon. We were just finishing with a few photos when some tourists happened by. It was quite a circus with Bree and Kira trying to get dressed. I'm trying to make up for not posting as much this past week. The good news, I was out shooting with some fantastic women.

Sarah Jane and I have worked together a lot. We always seem to get some great photos when we're together and it's more a catching up with an old friend than a photo shoot. On this day it was darn cold but she powered through it and we again got some great stuff. I can't wait to shoot with her again and experience another desert adventure.

I traveled to Moab to shoot with Zoe and others last week. This is a little bonus for you all since I know I haven't posted in a few days. I spent a day with Zoe creating some great stuff. We started out the morning looking like it was going to be a terrible day weather wise, but it lightened up. There will be a lot more from this series.
