and there was an interesting bit about the memory of a tree and how it may react to a drought after experiencing one in the past, and information being stored in the tree's rings

revisited his head model and molded it into something that im pretty excited about

i think if you want to understand a character inside and out its best to model them in a 3D space, you understand little landmarks and proximities 1000% more, and you get to play around with fun lights

this dudes head has been a journey to figure out, its such a clear thing in my mind and ive been narrowing in on it for around a year now

every time i draw him it gets a little closer to that id...

i only ever do character designs from scratch for people i know well they stress me out otherwise

boy howdy this was fun

seals are a really good example of natural camouflage influenced by light

their underbellies are light bc if youre a penguin in the ocean looking up they would match more closely with the light of the sun

their backs are dark bc if youre a penguin in the ocean looking down they would blend into the dark of the depths

rugg your forg next and im ironing out the bullwolf too

seals are one of my favorite animals and also one of the few kinds that encompass the cute-scary spectrum

something about adding a heart or star to a design instantly makes them 200% more endearing to me i fall for it every time 

when i made seson i think that was the thing that tied together his whole design

take away the star and he loses a lot of cohesion and interest visually
