Vermilion: My Command

Her last "S mode" exclusive skill, My Command. Another pretty simple animation, but with a pretty satisfying game play effect. We'll start on her "M mode" skills next week. Progress has been moving along nicely, even on some other background projects, which we're very excited to show off eventually.

Vermilion: The Heel

You didn't think they were just for show right? You might consider this a "strong S" mode skill for her. Quick explanation on the preview gifs: the last is just the on hit fx, which will be attached to her for better alignment purposes. Both sets of fx will play on hit, which only the one from the first set of four will play on a miss.

Hope everyone had a good holiday, ours has been very restful and productive. Many more animations, art pieces, and pieces of code are falling into place...

Vermilion: Crack the Whip

A very simple animation but we have to start somewhere, so here's Vermilion's first skill which does probably exactly what you'd expect and maybe a bit more. We are right on schedule for a February beta, closely followed by a couple more. Work has begun on her auxiliary pieces, like events and trinkets, and is progressing nicely.

Vermilion: Combat

Last major animation is done, skills starting next week. You may notice a UI meter over her head. This only shows up in combat, and will have several different positions, even more than just the 5 visible ticks, that will indicate... something. I think I'll leave it up to you all to guess for now, though this position is what we'll refer to as "default" or "balanced". There will also be palette options for removing the UI entirely if you're not a fan of such things.

Vermilion: Defend & Investigate

Combining these two since there's no animation. Both Wildcat and Vermilion's last sprites were completed last week, so it's still up in the air a bit which will be ready first. Void Keeper isn't terribly far behind either, but I dare not consider the possibility of three concurrent betas. Next week probably some more Vermilion.

Wildcat Redux: Tiger Shot 3

Final animation for skill 3, with a small bit of extra spice. Next week we'll be back to some Vermilion. Wildcat's last skill sprite was finished this morning, and we've been switching back and forth between her and Vermilion, code and animation to keep things fresh. Hard to say at the moment which will be finished first.

New Project: The Kobolide

Remember those four concurrent projects we mentioned last week? This is the fourth, another WIP hero! She's definitely the least far along to completion so far, but we've got this sweet animation I wanted to share anyway. You may recognize this character from an old teaser for a Crystalline Herald reskin, but over time the project has been evolving into its own thing, which we'll tell you a lot more about as some of our other projects finish.

New Project: The Vermilion

As promised last week, here she is, our next hero project: The Vermillion! She will be developed over the next few months alongside Wildcat Redux, Void Keeper, and maybe a couple other secret things. Wildcat Redux Animation: Quench

Well, staying on the Saturday schedule didn't last long. Thinking I might just shift to a general "weekly" post sort of system and not sweat the specific days. Speaking of sweat though, check out the other half to Wildcat's transform skill, Quench! This will represent her cooling down into her more defensive/support skill set. Minor correction from last week: the skill will be called Stoke/Quench, but the modes themselves will be called Scorching/Kindling.

Wildcat Redux Animation: Stoke

Finally back on our nice Saturday schedule. Anyone recognize this pose?

On top of her re-imagined combo system, Wildcat will also have two distinct skill-sets, Stoked and Quenched. This is the animation for Stoke, which will give her access to her fiery attacking skills. You'll be able to switch between Stoked and Quenched every other turn to build into powerful defensive or offensive techniques when you need them.

Wildcat Redux: Defend and Investigate

Thought we'd show off a little more Wildcat today, experimenting with putting the previews into these gifs so more so there aren't so many separate images uploaded. A bit more Void Keeper and Wildcat progress has been made, and some small patches for Gem Hunter and Vixen went out this week, so check those out too. Void Keeper: Walk Animation

Finally back to our regular schedule after all the Seeker excitement, and I'm very happy to say work on the Void Keeper is resuming. Many more sprites have been finished while Seeker was in production, so we're going to be getting her beta out a lot sooner than you might expect. We're also working on another outfit for her in addition to what's been seen; something fully SFW, if you can believe that. When that's all done they'll be shared here as well, but enjoy these previews for now.

Seeker Art: Town Events

As usual we have two town events, one that affects the idle heroes and one that affects the embarking party. Neither offer a recruit, but both offer an idle level for Seekers. These types of sprites have become some of my favorite to see as we've started to use them regularly. Beta very soon, just working out the last few kinks.
