It's SCANNING day ya'll! You know what that means - new art!
And as I just opened commisisons a few weeks ago this means some brand-spanking-new sequences! Here we have "Public Testing" - a sequence in the same world as "Unexpected Testing". as the forumula has been more tested. The narrative was written by the client - and a full story will accompany the final version uploaded to my site when they've finished it :)

March One-Shots & Gradual Updated Sequences

Happy March everyone! I'm bringing ya'll the results of my first scan day in March! Fist up is the monthly Patreon patron sketches: 2 pages of Sohorrorty house, the first page of a Hatsune Miku TF, and a one-shot metamorphic blast (inspired by MTG)

I'll edit this post when I've closed slots. As long as you get the email to me before I close it, you should get a slot. It may take me more than a day to respond to you all, however.

I will not respond to ANY emails until after slots have closed.
I also promise to leave slots open for at least THIRTY MINUTES regardless of how many requests I get. So if you get an email to me by 7:30pm CST April 16, I will guarantee you a spot as long as you pay within a week.

What To Send: When you send an email, include at least the following:

   - (how many pages (can be approximate),
   - pencil, inked or colored,
   - how many characters, and if multiple characters, are they present on all pages?

 Paying all at once or in batches?  
    - If in batches, do you have a basic budget for your first payment? 
(Note: First batch must be at least 1/3 of the total commission)

IDEALLY: Send me the full write-up/details of the commission with your initial email, but at the minimum, let me know the above information separately/at the top of the email as well.  If I haven't closed yet, I will reserve you a spot, but I only add people to my worklist after I've received payment (and I add people to the list in the approximate order I receive the payment). 

This is all to give me an estimate for how long it is going to take me to work on your project, so I can get a feeling for how many commissions I can take on before I close.  

My Response: I expect to take on an onslaught of emails, and it may take me 2 days or more to respond to your initial inquiry. I will not begin to respond to any emails at all until slots close. SO: as long as you sent me an email before my slots closed (I will post a time stamp here on the page when they close) then you can assume you got a spot in my reservation list even if you have not heard back from me yet.
As a note, last year when I opened commissions, slots were only open for about an hour and I took on a year's worth of work.
I also plan on setting email "work hours" for my own sanity between noon and 10pm CST.

Payment:  Once I confirm your slot and/or give you a quote, you may send payment (for at least the first 1/3 of the commission total if working in batches). *
Payment must be received by March 7 (1 week after commissions open) at latest, or else your reservation on my list will be forfeit. 

Other Details:
- if you already are commissioning a long-running ongoing sequence with me that is not already paid in full by the time these slots open, please sit this opening out. You can continue to pay on that sequence as usual, however :)
- one sequence maximum per person.  (If you are interested in a limited number of non-sequence pieces of art instead, that's also fine). 
- If you want a ballpark of the pricing before you send me the sequence for a quote, check out my Commission Pricing Page: http://arania.kamiki.net/commission/pricing/
- The quote will be good for until the commission is paid to completion, or one year from the first payment, whichever happens first.

*If you're not sure how long you want the sequence to be as a whole and instead plan on giving me a basic outline and pay for it in batches I can "spend" at my discretion - email me and we'll figure out a reasonable minimum first payment.  However, I'm trying to discourage the incredibly long sequences with comparably slow payment plans that take literal years to complete this opening, because they lead to increasingly long wait times between openings.

* Note 2: if you're paying in batches, the amount you pay will cover the correlating amount of the sequence. if you pay for 1/3, I will draw the first 1/3 until I receive payment for the next batch.

Out of Town Notice

Hey all!

I just wanted to drop a brief note that I am going to be out of town starting early tomorrow (Thursday Feb 20) until Wed (Feb 26).

I'm taking a weekend trip to a convention and then a day to recover afterwards ;) This is my reward to myself for finishing up all the work on my plate in advance of opening commissions on Feb 28!

So don't expect responses till I'm back - BUT I'm really looking forward to taking on a new batch of art and working with ya'll soon!

Something Squirrely

We're in the home stretch before the commission openings! I spent today finishing up the last of the sketchwork on my worklist for the month, and doing the raw scans - and adding dialog to one of the sequences - this one here!

A fun start to a new series of shorter comics a la the Rampage series - this one featuring She-Hulk and Squirrel-Girl (Squirrel-Hulk). And thanks to the client who suggested we slip in a cameo of my personal favorite Marvel couple P:

I've been working super hard these past two weeks: I've started the art mentorship program and there's a lot of "homework" - which is good - but definitely pushing me! [I'll share some of what I've been working on soon]

AND I've been finishing up the last of the art on my worklist before the commissions open. My goal is to finish dialoging the scans tomorrow, then shift gears to this week's assignment for my art class - and then I'll be leaving town Thursday for an extended weekend for a short vacation to a con in Chicago. (And then a brief, but well-earned breather before I open up the commission slots on the 28th!

Sneak Peek: Enthralled Chapter 24

Welcome to what I've been mostly working on for the last couple of weeks! Due to a decline in health of the client of the Enthralled series, I've decided to fast track this final scripted/written chapter and get it to the point where it's flat colored for best early viewing.

What we have here is a flashback/dream of Angela's - reframing and recontextualizing her first meeting with Jared.

This is a great example of what my "Flat colored" art looks like. This is before the full shading and rendering i usually do when I color a sequence - and this format is available for commission that's a cheaper rate than my full color work.

Testing Ones' Skillset Part 2 of 2

Annnnd here we go! One more sequence completed in advance of the commission openings just a little over a month away!

This is the second half of Testing Ones' Skillset !

And other than one more chapter of Enthralled (and the work I do every month, like donation art, any credit on the community funded sequences, patreon art) this is the LAST of the work remaining on my to-do list!

I do hope that a few sequences that are stuck in WIP limbo waiting for more payment from their commissioners comes my way between now and then, however. I've got a short list of projects from last opening that need another payment or so to finish up.

I WILL be starting a two-month mentorship program next month to really work hard on learning more skills (hah appropriately to posting this commission lol) - where I'll be taking a class with a small group of about 10 other artists to work with a professional artist in the industry who has done work on D&D and Magic:The Gathering to push my painting skills that i'm really looking forward to! I'll be sure to share WIPs and the final product with you all :)

Halloween Punch: Love in the Air

Two solos: Yuan-Troll & Donkey POV TF

For today I have two stand-alone images!

The first is a rough color on the Yuan-Troll sketch - had fun doing an experimental hour long quickpaint on the sketch I did!

The second: a stand-alone image of a woman mid-TF into a donkey!

I also just did the raw scans for a 41 page entry into the Halloween Punch series - I plan on adding dialog some time between now and Wednesday - stay tuned!

Personal Project: Vinsent Level 5 art

Last but not least: my personal project for the month (that also ties into this month's donation artwork - as I used a modern AU Version of this character as the subject for this year's Chinese Zodiac Year of the Snake sequence!)

This is Vinsent Dezlentyr - a secret Yuan-Ti (Snake person) - who is gradually getting less subtle about his heritage as his sorcery abilities grow :)
He got a cool glass staff that holds potions, and the ability to manifest a snakey aura - while his scales have spread over his face :)

January Donation Art: Year of the Snake

Hi Everyone!

The Chinese New Year comes a little early this year (at the end of this month, January) so I had a TON of fun being able to do a sequence based on one of my favorite animals: the Snake!

Additionally, I got to do a bit of an extra personal fun spin by using one of my D&D characters, Vinsent - as the model for the sequence (well, a modern AU of him at least). SO I went a little more overboard on this one - 13 pages total, with about half of them being comics pages - so ENJOY - and a slightly early YEAR OF THE SNAKE!

December Build-A-Sequence: Minotaur's Library!

And heeere we go! I worked hard to get this done by the end of the month AND did a bit extra more than I had planned: 11 pages instead of 10, and threw in a few comic pages instead of all full pages. This was a fun concept and I think Asteria will enjoy her new life as the library minotaur! What do you think?
