Another hour passed. Starami finally stopped deploying his Tower Guard…and yet, riderless wyverns continued to attack the general and his dragon. General Rippotis’ bad feeling only grew…at this point, the number of riderless wyverns Starami had already reached implausible territory. Had he sent his wyvern riders into a Tower assault dismounted? Or had they gotten ambushed in the Underway? The general was starting to run out of possible explanations.

Down in the Underway, a ground drake swung its claws at seemingly empty space. Wards flashed into being and created a wall of light and glowing symbols in its path. The leaders of the alliance spent the rest of the day coming up with an extreme wish-list of ridiculous terms for their counteroffer. By the time they finished, the day was growing late, so they adjourned.

The next day, they sent their representatives to meet with and present the counteroffer to General Rippotis. General Rippotis, predictably, balked at the offer and refused it outright. He apparently did not feel so much guilt as to hand over half of the Conclave’s Towers.
