Belissar decided to try General Rippotis’ advice right away. He took a tray of mana honey and headed over to the Aurora Forest. The sun itself was hard to see through the rainbow aurora overhead, but it did make the forest even brighter than usual. After the battle, the Firstborn flew to the healing hive the fair ones prepared for the Second of the Sixth. The Fourth of the Seventh created a wind that propelled the monster bee lancers even faster. Beero and the battlecasters then struck the Tower Guard with a lightning sting once more, allowing the lancers to dive directly on target. Starami briefly considered trying to reinforce and maintain the foothold they had in the forest room…but he quickly acknowledged that was a fool’s errand. When Starami’s Tower Guard conducted their sweep and set up their barriers outside of Belissar’s Tower, they focused on things containing mana. With the allied forces biding their time, Starami was free to begin deploying his army en-masse. Starami’s forces changed their deployment from before. The scout bees reported that all the tunnels were tightly packed in the same area this time, all heading towards the open fields between the Tower and the fortress the fair folk renovated.

Belissar stepped through a shortcut and into a world of color. A bright pillar of white light rose between the trees at the center of the forest, illuminating up the trunks of the trees as brightly as their canopies. Since Starami might resume his attack at any moment, Belissar and his council got right to business.

A claw broke through the dirt of the surface and a ground drake climbed out, followed closely by armed kobolds. But, as the drake climbed fully onto the surface, a ward lit up across the ground. The tunnel they dug widened itself into a gaping maw…while all the dirt and stone removed hardened into fangs on the edges of the tunnel.
