Leap of Faith - Chapter 6 - Release Date
So far, so good!
This week I haven't rendered a single image (what a horrible way to start a weekly update). On the other hand, I've been writing about 8,000 lines in Renpy, then removing 2,000 of them to avoid the chapter being an exposition dump and keep continuity.
About 2 hours ago I caught up with latest renders, and shifted my attention back to posing renders and animations.

It's been another week of making decent progress. I've been posing and rendering all week, and have finished almost all the visuals in all the scenes except for the ending. Mostly animations, but some story renders as well.
Next week I'll be at our summer house where I'll focus on catching up on the writing and scripting, before I move on to work on visualizing that long sequence of scenes which is the ending.
To give you some kind of idea of how big that ending is, I'm now at 1,0...

I've been grinding away at the big scene I mentioned last week and it's all coming along, albeit at a slightly slower pace than normal.
To summerize, it takes 5 minutes to load the scene into Daz, and another 5 minutes to clear the scene. I'm also overshooting my 64gb of ram and 24gb of vram, so render initialization takes another 5 minutes. Also, 5 people in a scene means 150 finger joints that needs adjusting, so it's a bit more time consuming on the posing part.

No talk of hot 3090's this week. In fact I did no further testing at all. In the end it took the fun out of this and left me feeling burned out and uninterested.
Instead, I decided to sit down and push forward with the story in HD, and I had a blast doing so which the render count increase for this week should confirm, which is now at 648 story renders and 7,135 animated frames. The quality is still better than on my 2060 card, and I've doubled up on iterations (see the animation below ...

I really enjoyed working on Chapter 6 this week as I finally got a chance to dip into more of the more serious part of the story, and I have been steadily grinding away at posing and rendering.
I did notice that the 3090 vram temperature is at a steady 92C when rendering in 4k. After checking in with Kentyrr and Stoya who did test renders just to give me some referring values, I could conclude it is indeed a bit high. The GPU temperature itself is a very good 60C at 55% fan speed.

I really wanted to do story renders this week, but realized it's almost summer and that means people will be around the house for both early and late hours. In short, I had to finish up the two lewd scenes I was working on, instead of worrying of curious eyes.
At least those scenes are completely done now, and for the next weeks I'll concentrate on the story itself which is a big part of this chapter.

First of all some good news, and for those that doesn't know it yet, I was finally able to get a hold of a 3090 GPU this week. That, alongside new PSU, completes my rendering rig for now, making the whole process from posing and pre-rendering a whole lot faster as I don't have to minimize lighting anymore, or compress textures to avoid using more memory than my previous GPU could handle.

Ok, so I made a slight mistake this month and forgot to limit the custom render post to the correct tiers. Which means you can all see it. Well, the error is on me so I'll leave it standing (as you've already gotten notifications of it), so I hope you all enjoy it.
This week has been a tough one, where I've spent all my free time in Daz studio. There was a huge amount of scene setup, and on every single render I had to do a lot of posing. Thankfully Wibble came through once again with an asset you just can't buy anywhere - and he did so in roughly 20 minutes. The help I get when reaching out is just unbelievable, and thank you once again.

Last few words before next weeks Chapter 5 release.
This week has been all about polishing and getting the final touches in. There's still some scripting to do on the Steph route, but other than that it's all minor corrections here and there, plus the post-work in photoshop, before I can hand it over to the testers tomorrow.
I played through it just now, and I'm very pleased with the feel of it. It's been a whole lot of fun to make, and hopefully that will show when you're playing...

This week has been mostly about getting the dialogues and menu choices in place. In addition to that, music has been selected and the choices and branching is done. There's still a lot to do like, phone elements, character trait scenes, some ui changes, the end of chapter screen, a roam event and a scene that is completely different depending on your trait.

3 weeks to go. It may sound like a lot, but there's still a whole lot left to do.
Current render totals are 1,323 story renders and 12,575 animated frames, so for those taking notes you'll see that I've been mostly focused on doing story renders this week. I've been wrapping up a big scene that's been a slight drag to deal with due to it being rather demanding on the hardware. But at least it's done now, and I can move on.
For next week I will work mostly - or only - on the dialog...

On the bright side, this update is by numbers the biggest single update yet. The complete chapter 4 is still slightly bigger, but was released in two parts.
