Update: Gang and Bosses

De’Vas Chronicles Book 2: Full disclosure I’m not very happy with the edits on this book. I’ve gotten a few messages from people informing me of typos found in it (seriously thank you to those that found and informed me of these, they will be fixed). I’ve hired a new editor who is going to go through book 2 before I make a paperback available, maybe late December or January before that’s available. I’m sorry for the poor quality of this release. It will be fixed.

Feral Mage: Chapter 8

Bryce held the reins of the mules as he led the wagon away from Oakbridge. The faint sound of growling came from Vex, who sat beside him. He gave a side glance to see the wolfkin was still staring behind them with canted ears and a snarl on her face.

“Vex, you glaring at Janna’s wagon isn’t going to make it turn around,” Bryce said, not for the first time.

Vex turned and looked at him with a scowl on her face.

“The stupid fox is following us!”

“There’s ...

De'Vas Chronicles Book 3: Chapter 7

Ash and Bo stepped through the portal back into District 114. The sun had already set and the faint glow of the street lights greeted them, as did one of the 114 Pack members who gave a nod.

“The food there was pretty good,” Bo said as he patted his gut.

Ash smirked at the orc.

“Glad you had fun on your date,” he teased.

Bo blew a raspberry.

“That wasn’t a date. Ella is just a friend,” Bo stated.

“Right,” Ash said with a laugh. “Did she ...

De'Vas Chronicles Book 3: Chapter 6

“In you go,” Bo said as he opened the trunk of Selena’s Frankenstein car, placing the briefcase of notes inside.

The goblin bucked against the reflective tape as Bo lifted him up, making him look like a pissed-off disco ball. Bo, not so gently, tossed him into the trunk.

“Hey, Pickles, fu—” the goblin yelled before Bo closed the trunk.

Only faint cursing escaped the trunk, though Ash couldn’t make out what the goblin was saying. Not that he was really trying to...

De'Vas Chronicles Book 3: Chapter 5

One of the mimic’s spider-like legs pierced the ground where Ash had been standing. He sent a weak Bolt at the monster to antagonize it, then kept leading the monster in a circle on their side of the room.

The mimic lunged for Ash, its long leg stabbing out. He sidestepped the attack and retaliated with Riptide. The sword left a gash along the side of its vending machine body and it began oozing dark blood.

The mimic’s hide was tough, a trait Ash had learned ...

De'Vas Chronicles Book 3: Chapter 4 -rework-

The slumber party was in full swing, and Faylen was surprised by how much Lilly’s weekly get-together for the girls had grown. A dozen girls had shown up this week and Faylen watched them from her spot on the couch.

Naomi was standing beside Coral as they chatted with Haylee and her sisters. The ice salamander and fire dragon were no doubt giving makeup or fashion advice to the trio of otterkin sisters.

Just past them, a nervous Mei waited her turn to throw darts. Th...

Feral Mage: Chapter 7

Bryce stood before the large stone near their camp, he estimated it about the same size as a wagon’s wheel and four times the width. The sun was just cresting over the east. It wouldn’t be long before he would go to meet with Oakbridge’s mayor and see what he would pay for the vampire’s head. Which meant he needed to make himself presentable.

He felt his muscles swell and a surge of strength in his body as he activated the Primal troll aspect. He knelt and grabbed the stone, lif...

Feral Mage: Chapter 6 - part 2

The snow crunched under the hoof of Callie’s horse. Already the snow was starting to thin as they made their way out of the snow-covered mountains of the north. She had formed a small team to accompany her on this diplomatic mission to the Red Pine Kingdom. The bare minimum the Duchess would allow her to take.

Riding beside her right was Erica, a forest elf who would be their guide within the Kingdom. Erica was currently bundled in a massive fur jacket that still failed to keep the f...

I originally wanted to get the book out mid November, but there were sadly a few delays. I’m sorry for the wait on this book everyone. Thank you for your support and I hope Discord does justice to Exile!

Just a short preorder-order period for it.

Vex - AI attempt

This attempt is a little rougher (Kept messing with the armor and am still not happy with it) but this is close to how I picture Vex, though with less rosy cheeks.

Lilly - AI attempt

This is close to how I see Lilly. Though I picture her with the pink flowers throughout her hair and without the leaves on them.

Feral Mage: Chapter 6

Bryce let out a sigh of relief as he saw the light of the fires behind him die down. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about the flames spreading from the grove to Oakbridge.

“Damn pyromancers and their fireballs,” he grumbled.

They hadn’t even arrived in Oakbridge yet when he saw the flash of the fireball within the grove. Bryce quickly passed the reigns to Alice before activating his manticore aspect and rushing toward the flash. Janna was lucky he had seen ...

Feral Mage: Chapter 5

“Bryce, you missed the show!” Alice said as she and Vex entered the tavern.

Bryce was still at the bar but was looking at an assortment of beer mugs laid out randomly on the counter. The barkeep stood in front of him, cleaning a glass.

“Oh, did you two have fun?” He asked, never looking away.

“Yes! Janna was amazing, she juggled six knives at once while standing on a rolling ball,” Alice said excitedly.

“The stupid fox just did st...

De'Vas Chronicles Book 3: Chapter 3

Bo and Ash stood in an empty parking lot as they looked at the old abandoned mall in District 208. Normally such a large building would have been occupied by the paranormals for residential or business needs. This mall, though, had been in such a poor state that it was left untouched, except for a smuggler who was rumored to operate out of it.

“Looks like the place from Undead Shoppers: 4. Same shape and everything,” Bo said.

Ash looked at Bo.

“Seriously. Bringing up h...

Poll Winner: Feral Mage

Polls over and Feral Mage came out on top as the series I’ll be working on alongside De’Vas. I received a lot of feedback on both series and really enjoyed hearing people’s thoughts, likes and dislikes about them. So a sum up of what this means for Feral Mage and No Capes.

Feral Mage: I’m aiming to post at least two chapters of this series a week (truthfully it will most likely end up being more, but two seemed a safe bet). When its further along cover art will be announced and ...

Small Update

I was a little under the weather yesterday so didn’t get much writing done. I do plan to post some chapters of Book 3 this week/weekend and probably some on Feral as well (given its lead in the poll.)

Book 2: I heard back from the editor this morning and should have the edits next week. When I get them and get the master copy updated I’m planning to launch Book 2. There will most likely not be a preorder period (sorry) but release date is still expected to be sometime in the later h...

No Capes vs. Feral Mage

So like I said last week I'm doing a poll to see which story everyone likes more. The winner will be the next series I do. Each story has four chapters posted, poll ends 11/22. (Loser will most likely be reworked and something I do later.)

De'Vas is my primary focus and this series will not effect releases of chapters for Book 3 posted on Patreon.

Thank you all and I look forward to see which one you like more!

Feral Mage: Chapter 4

Bryce walked into the mayor’s building carrying the troll’s head. Before the door had closed he heard someone speak.

“It really is dead,” the woman behind the desk exclaimed as she stared at the head.

“How?” one of the guards asked.

Bryce gave a friendly smile, though questions like that meant it was time to leave Sawtown. He didn’t like people figuring out that he was a feral mage.

“Suffocated it then cut off its head,” Bryce...

Feral Mage: Chapter 3

Callie made her way through the remains of the castle. The fire had destroyed much of it, but a few sections remained free from the destruction. The pathway gate that led to these sections was decorated with human heads on pikes. The count, his family, and the soldiers under his command. A sight that did little except normalize cruelty among the soldiers and would inspire horrific acts of retaliation by the humans once they learned of it. She saw two guards standing before the door of her des...

Feral Mage: Synopsis

Bryce is a mercenary, a pricey one due to his rank of cursed steel. Which is the highest rank for mages in the mercenary guild, at least in the human kingdoms.

While taking what should have been a simple escort job. He finds himself caught in the growing conflict between elves and humans. Both sides are hell-bent on capturing or killing his escort.

The one thing they have going for them? Bryce is a bit of a monster or several.

Feral Mage: Chapter 2

Bryce wasted no time once he had the details from the Mayor and made his way south of Sawtown. The road vanished a short distance and he had to seek out the old overgrown road to find the path to continue. The woods were thick with trees and wildlife. Once the town was no longer in sight he pulled on his magic as an Aspect mage. He only had one aspect right now, the flightless manticore, still it was a very effective aspect and had allowed him to excel as a mercenary.

 His se...

Feral Mage: Chapter 1

The contract had recommended a full team of five mercenaries, the job was a dangerous one after all. The task was to harass the enemy’s supply line that supported the siege of some count’s castle in what was being called the Second Border War. The tension between the human kingdom of Volpin and the snow elf duchy of Frostveil had been at a boiling point for years.

Bryce had taken the contract alone, something the guild master had allowed given his rank. The first three weeks o...

Lilly rolled out of bed and stretched. She had stayed the night in her house instead of her shop or the Flatiron, where she had been staying most nights. The girls’ night slumber party was tonight and she was hosting it at her house, so she had stayed over to prepare.

Vines pulled an outfit from her closet and proceeded to dress her as she closed her eyes and focused on the cactus that was in Ash’s office like she did every morning.

“He’s not there,” she said to h...

De'Vas Chronicles Book 3: Chapter 1

Ash sat at his desk and read over the reports that Haylee had sent him about the fish farm expansions. He had opened a new farm to help meet the demands of District 71 from the trade deal he had signed with Raina four months ago.

Right now the new farm was in the red and a bit of a money pit, but Haylee was confident that it would be as productive as the others after a harvest or two. He trusted the otterkin woman.

As he reached to turn the page of the report, he caught sight of t...

Small Update

I will be taking down Book 2 on Friday so just a heads up to anyone reading it. I'm still waiting on a few things before launching Book 2's preorder but I'm hoping to have those this week (fingers crossed I didn't just jinx myself). The release date will most likely be sometime during the fourth week of November or the first week of December.

Last week I started working on Book 3 and I'm going to start posting chapters for that tonight.

Seriously, thank you all! Book 2 is (almost) done and I hope it will be a good addition to the De'Vas Chronicles. I didn't post the epilogue because I want to get an outline for book 3 before settling on one.

I'm now going to send Book 2 out to some beta readers and read through it myself a few times while they read it. There will be some minor changes, edits, and additions (I know I want to add some more dialogue about Ash's mom, Bo, and Lilly). Once the beta readers are done I'll set...
