Quantity or, um, rapidity?

I'm sure there's a better way of phrasing that^. Anyway, just looking for a little input here from you guys. Since obviously most folks can't swing the $50/mo read-'em-as-I-write-'em rate, I was interested in y'all's input on the release schedule for the next book(s) in the TIOS universe. Right now, in-book, the plot is coming up on the King of Hearts dance, which will hopefully make for a good amount of drama, some exposition, some w00ha.

As it stands, Ch. 1-5 of We, The Nighthawks is a...

If You Want, Part 2 (early release)

I didn't manage to finish it in time for this week's EMCSA update, so you fine folks are getting it a full week early. This is the second installment to If You Want, in which we meet a man with the power to make people do things they already wanted to do. The first part is mostly a slow burn of setting up the premise, the characters, and getting our narrator thinking more about how to be happy. Part 2...

We, The Nighthawks; Ch. 1 & 2

Back into it with the sequel to Amazon's best-selling magical yearbook erotica, This Is Our Story! (At least, I *think* this is true.)

I freaking LOVE writing in this universe, folks. These characters speak to me, and often to say things that amuse and delight. (Sorry, Harmony, but you could be kind of a buzzkill.) I'm sharing the first two chapters openly; the rest I'll be sharing with the usual $50 crowd as they come, the copy of the finished book with the $20 folks, and a link to Amaz...

Commission, "Going Stag"

Not only is this one set in the same universe as a previous work, A Night to Remember to Forget, it's also set at the exact same dance. My Back to the Future II, if you will. (Eat your heart out, Robert Zemeckis.)  And this time, I managed to avoid any glaring translation errors -- mostly because, per the request of the commissioner, he wanted minimal dialogue. It's true about me that I really li...

Now available: The Secret of Harmony Reed volume III

The Secret of Harmony Reed Volume III: Same Struggles is now available on Amazon! This book is my first trilogy, and I have to say it feels pretty amazing to have completed it. It's a big day for me, and, I dare say, a big day for world literature as a whole.

FINE, maybe it's just a big day for me. Anyway, it wound up being a pretty major undertaking. It's significantly longer than the first two books combined, and ho...

Now taking commissions!

Whew. The Secret of Harmony Reed vol 3 (title coming soon!) is a stone's throw from completion. This one grew beyond my original intended scope, but that's OK. I wanted to get everything Done rather than have a cut-off and another book. I'll ramble more about this when I announce the book launch later this week.

For now, this means my hiatus from commissions is at an end, so if you've had an idea you've been bottling up, now's the time! Also, I've run into so many times in recent months ...

If You Want, Part 1 (early release)

OK, so I had this funny idea and I decided to take a day's break from working on Harmony Reed. (Or has Harmony Reed taken a day's break from working on herself? HEYO) (That's a really lame joke on the plot twist) (If you don't get it it's me not you)

Anyway! I wrote the first part of what I think will be a two-part story. It's about a woman meeting a guy with the world's lamest superpower -- the power to make people do what they want to do. Dumb, right? I told myself that that was all his powe...

So, this happened

So, Patreon recently up and moved to England, which, due to [technobabble], has caused a large number of patrons' payments to be declined. For those of you who suddenly lost access to all the rewards you previously had, here's an article explaining how to update your payment so that patreon doesn't screw you out of all of my goodness. Of course, if your payment ...

Commission, A Night to Remember to Forget

Here's something a little more up my usual alley, for those of you whose brains were colonized by the last post. :D It's prom night at CHS, with a special twist thrown in.

Looking forward, aside from commissions I've already signed on to, and for the usual monthly drawing, I'll be taking a hiatus from further side projects until The Secret of Harmony Reed volume III is completed. This might sound really silly or lame or perhaps pretentious, but I've gotten myself to the point where I'm w...

Commission, "Of Infidelity"

Here's a little piece I wrote last week that was just a little outside  my usual wheelhouse, but I think did a good job capturing the intended  Feels. A lot of my stories focus around someone who is the fortunate  recipient of unearned affection, but this one instead revolves around a  young man who's earned it, but... well, you can read the story. I  suppose I should include tags so those of you who are a bit more  particular don't wind up feeling betrayed, b...

The Secret of Harmony Reed, vol. III, teaser

I've attached chapter one of the as-yet-untitled TSoHR vol. III for folks. I figure those of you who patiently let me fiddle around with Conner and his yearbook staff were at least owed some sort of notion as to what's in the works.

When we left off, Harmony had learned that it was she herself who'd been  unconsciously voicing her trigger phrases all along; moments later,  however, she'd been triggered in her car by a student who'd perceptively  picked up on her trigger ph...

Commission, Patron of the Arts

This month's monthly commission draw winner went for a continuation of that timeless favorite, our old friend Todd and his many friends. This time around, we have a performing artist who draws attention to herself with some performance art in the park. If only she had somebody to help inspire her to be the change she wants to see in the world...

Anyway, this is some silly fun, I hope. More to come!

This Is Our Story, now available on Amazon!

The title pretty much says it all, and you can click here to get at it. I had so much fun with this. I hope you enjoy reading it half as much as I enjoyed writing it. As a reminder, next up is returning to The Secret of Harmony Reed, with a smattering of shorter projects thrown in. More to come!

This Is Our Story full novel, $20 reward

At last, here it is! The finished copy of This Is Our Story. I've submitted it to Amazon, so it should be live to the world in a day or so, but no sense making you lovely people wait any longer. As a very minor note, for some reason, the pdf edition has two blank pages at the end that I cannot trick my system into omitting. It's definitely not in the original, but shows up when I convert it to pdf. Shouldn't be a problem, but I wanted to reassure you there's no weird trick or easter egg or what ...

Heaven Hath No Wrath, now on Amazon

So some nice reader emailed me and was like, hey, remember that story you wrote about that girl and that guy who controls her? And I was like "yeah, totally, I know exactly which one you mean." Heaven Hath No Wrath was my first piece of erotica that I shared with the world, inspired by that too-familiar premise of being friend-zoned. There's an element of myself in many of my stories, but I think this one is th...

This Is Our Story ready for editing!

Just to update everybody not crazy (but *good* crazy) enough to be shelling out $50/mo to get chapters as they finish, here's the story on This Is Our Story and upcoming projects. I've just finished the final two chapters of volume I, so now I just have to cobble it all together and get it edited. That'll probably be a week or so, then it's off to Amazon for folks who'd like to buy it, as well as becoming available to the $20 patrons here. (I always wanna say "free" to those folks, but you can't...

Back at it! (and The Businessman and the Witch Doctor, early release)

I'm back from my trip, and back at the keyboard! Aside from losing my wallet (necessitating a thorough groping by the TSA at the airport for not having an ID, which helped me empathize with a good many of my characters), it was a great week. I started the attached post, The Businessman and the Witch Doctor, before I left, but as so often happens, its scope tremendously out-paced my initial estimates, so I didn't get to finish it until I got back.

So here it is, a piece that began as a fu...

This Is Our Story, Ch. 8

Here's another installment of TIOS. I think it's coming pretty close to a point where I can publish a "Volume 1" kind of thing, with a premise established, characters introduced, etc. Hoping to get that done and out by mid-June -- fingers crossed.

Anyways, here it is in all its unedited glory. Enjoy!

The New Arrival at GHS, pt. 2

A while back, I started writing this thing for the same awesome fella who's been commissioning all the GHS pieces. It expanded a bit more than we'd intended, so we broke it in half and did an installment thing, and then life happened and it took a while for business to be concluded. Finally, here it is! I love writing in this setting - you know I'm always a sucker for school settings - and I think this one is a fun piece, with even a touch of feels to it. I hope you enjoy!

What gives

So it's been a long while since I've posted, and you guys deserve an explanation. If you don't care and are just happy I'm posting stories, see the next post. :) But for those who wanna know wsup with my month-long hiatus, or just wanna nose around in someone's bidness:

I have *not* been on hiatus. This has been a rough month, one of my rougher to date. Starting with the smaller potatoes, after the dog-fighting incident I mentioned previously (ugh), my own dog got injured pretty badly and ther...

Early release, "Neighbors From Back When"

***UPDATE*** WDB pointed out that the perspective was shifting back and forth between first and third person like crazy. (Thanks for saying something!) I've smoothed this out (maybe missed a little, but it's not at least in the territory of typos and not confusing literary nightmares).

A few weeks back, I was sitting at my mom's place relaxing when the doorbell rang and one of her neighbors (nobody I knew) was there doing some solicitation for a school extracurricular. I humored...

TIOS, Ch. 7

And for you good people, here's your early access to Ch. 7 of This Is Our Story. We left off with Conner catching his step-sister Angelica sneaking over to his friend Owen's place across the street. He follows and finds her inexplicably going down on his skeezy friend, and... well, we'll see how that goes here.

This chapter is a lot more mind controlly than most so far, so for those who've been missing it in TIOS so far, here's your fix. (For those who've been content with the shift away from ...

Commission: A Game of Skill

Whew. So I'm finally back to posting. I went dog-sitting for a friend last week, and his pair of rescued pit bulls got into a fight. (Nothing against my friend and nothing against pit bulls; they were both just traumatized as pups and evidently this can happen.) In the process of breaking them up, I got myself nibbled on a bit -- nothing disfiguring or the like, but I had one hand swollen up like crazy while it was healing. So, for those of you who've long been yearning for me to write a totally...

TIOS, Chapter 6

Ha - the sample text from patreon reads, "honestly, write anything. your patrons will love it."

I have a higher opinion of you than that, promise. :) Anyway, that aside, here we are with chapter 6 of TIOS. We finish out this first zany week after the body swap with some exploring of things between Conner and Hailey, as well as a new twist and a reveal that maybe isn't all that shocking to us but sure is for Conner.

Sometimes it feels a bit like writing for one of those vampire stories wh...

TIOS, Chapter 5

w00ha! That last commission was a hella big one, but I am back at it again, and things are finally starting to heat up. Nothing against some exposition in a story, but if you know one thing about my writing, it's that I likes me some steam in most every chapter. We still have some seeds budding, some plots forming, so much more to come.

Commission: The New Student at GHS (Part 1)

Yet another story set at Granite Hills High School! The title probably makes it pretty obvious what this one centers on. I'm so glad the patron who's been commissioning these keeps coming back to it, because I have endless fun slipping into this world. In this particular case, the idea wound up growing to the extent that we have to split the story in half, so... I did my best to end on a satisfactory note. The story grapples with the usual difficulties of moving to a new school and not having an...

So, here's a thing

So I've been kicking this idea around for a while now and after producing the conceptually similar story The Things She Puts Up With For Tips, I finally decided to put words to it. It's called This Is Our Story, and it's about the editor-in-chief of a high school yearbook of that name, and after the yearbook staff gets some new software, shenanigans ensue. I'm gonna say some thoughts about it, but I'm going to write it as if you've already read it, so... go read it, then come back at me.
