How to fake a prop from toys

Hi guys! This is just a quick tutorial about turning brightly colored plastic toys into more realistic looking props!!

What you need

-paint brushes

-black, white, brown paint

-your choice spray paint color for the base colors

-painters/masking/blue tape

-exacto knife

-Patience

-oh and of course your toy of choosing

Small beginnings!

This is the beginning process for the ivysaur cosplay for anime expo!

The idea is that I will be able to attach large patches of scales on to my skin like ivysaurs design

This will be a new special effect makeup style for me that I’m excited to try out

I’m making these scales from super light and bouncy white model magic clay. And once they are dry I will be using liquid latex to create an attachable layer. And then airbrush the appropriate color.

Real talk: i know it may seem silly but sometimes...I can’t stand being dressed up.

I don’t know if it’s the pain talking that’s been plaguing me the past week or something else but all I know is I have these days that I try to go do a shoot and everything just feels wrong and I feel my energy dropping lower and lower. And it’s so gosh darn frustrating because I’ll have spent an hour on makeup I know that creating content is a good thing. And I’ll just start to let that negative energy get to me which isn’t productive AT ALL and I just sink lower and lower till...

Nothing too serious but There was a bit of an accident today
