Faces!

I feel like a good face is the cornerstone of making a drawing look professional, and yet I feel like they are a personal weakness of mine. So I decided to do some studies! For the top ones, I would trace a reference, then try to redraw it to the right. Its crazy how much your hand can deviate from your eyes! All of these are from references. The goal is to grow my visual library from drawing a bunch of faces from reference, so hopefully my faces from imagination will feel more solid.

Alright okay okay... oof haha. Saw an exercise online for creature design where you scribble a random shape with a marker, and then try to create a creature out of it afterwards. Was stuck away from home for a bit so I tried this traditionally and maaaaaan... it did not work xD At least two of them almost look like real creatures......

Was feeling inspired to dip my toe into the fantasy universe I've been thinking of, and felt a fun way to do that would be a little world building! Refined sketch style for concept art?

I really like the premise of a style like this, where you do basically a contour sketch with a ball-point pen type brush, where the focus isn't on line weight or making sure the lines cleanly connect to each other or the colors perfectly fit within the bounds, but rather you are focused on just getting an idea across. Fire Emblem fanart!
