She also just likes being blunt, using the phrases "my tits," "the rockin' tits," "my big ol' tits!" Personally I've never been a fan of that word, since it's such an unclassy term for such beautiful, elegant things, but I try not to complain when a woman says it, especially about themselves.

One trick I use, with both models and friends when they are feeling low, is to just keep them talking. Eventually a sarcastic response to what they are telling me will usually help lighten their mood. With my deep understanding of McKenzie, I'm really quite good at making her smile from time to time.

McKenzie did like dressing how she felt, and being the original Goth kid in her school, she has loads of black clothing liteering her closet. I was also a fan of her juicy, dark eye shadow and glossy lips. She has a gret sense of styling herself for our collaborations.

She definitely wasn't her radiant self, and I tried desperately to get her to open up, make her laugh, etc. Though we aren't close as in talking every week, we have a fundamental trust of each other that I hoped would help her start her way out of her feelings.

I end this set with probably my favorite photo from the series. It's so simple and elegant and simple, yet the more you stare at it, the more appreciation you find for the details, the textures. Something I rarely share is the experience of traveling to all my destinations. Los Angeles is about a two and a half hour drive from my home, and on bad days it is considerably longer with traffic. it had been gloomy and overcast all day, which fit both our moods, so we went out on the balcony of my friend's place and shot out there for a bit. We ended up attracting some atttention, no big surprise there, and after only a few brief moments had to come back inside.

Brooke is an advocate for LGBT rights, women's equality, and is a major supporter of animal rights, devoting her life to rescuing dogs. She is definitely that person who will stop on the freeway to pick up a stray dog that has found itself in the wrong place.
