Chapter 233 - Centaurs

We spent the next two weeks slowly heading north, the days starting to become just a bit shorter. We were making alright time, although stopping halfway through the day felt all sorts of weird.

It was perfectly normal to my elvish traveling companions, and, well, when in the company of elves, do as the elves.

It was a day like any other as we walked north, the three elves chatting away, helping me learn all sorts of things.

“Over there, we can see some vultures ci...

Chapter 232 - Elvish Adventures! II

I yelled as the [Rubbery Rope] that attached me to Awarthril got yanked on, snapping me forward into the brawl. There was no [Bullet Time] activation, but I did throw a shield around the egg, curling around it protectively. There was no way I was going to let this get hurt.

“Oi!” Awarthril’s fury was clear in her voice, as she stood up. “No bystanders! Elaine’s fragile, and she’s got an even more delicate egg with her!” View Post

Celebration of Art! Serondes!

Sadly, it looks like the remaining pieces won't be done in time for the celebration :(. I might post the unfinished Elaine one, depending on a bunch of factors.

I do hope that the big epic one will show up in the next few weeks - it's my apology piece for missing some days this month, but the artist is having IRL problems. Same artist that did the star banner! And roughly as epic

Chapter 231 - Elvish Adventures! I

I woke up, briefly panicked and confused at the stone surface above me, almost closing in on me. Was I back in the mines?! Was Lun’Kat’s lair, escape and freedom just a fever dream, my overactive imagination tantalizingly dangling freedom in front of me, pulling the wool over my eyes to the cruel reality that I was still trapped deep in the mines?

No.

The egg was still in my grasp, and the light was streaming in through the windows Serondes made last night. The fact that he co...

Chapter 230 - On Immortality

There were a few moments where I got to feel smug at their surprise.

“You seized Immortality?” Serondes eventually asked.

“Seize immortality?” I asked, completely unfamiliar with the phrase.

“Attained it with a skill.” Aegion clarified.

“Seized is the better word.” Serondes muttered.

“Attained is accurate!”

“So is seized!”

Awarthril thumped both of them on the head, ending the argument.

“You two are as bad as each other...

The one year celebration begins! Book 5 cover inside

Hey all!

9/28 will mark a full year of publishing Beneath the Dragoneye Moons! To celebrate, I have a boatload of art that I'll be posting between now and then. The $10+ tier exclusive artwork already got posted, and now I've got stuff for everyone!

It's been a wonderful journey so far with everyone. I can't believe how BTDEM's popularity has exploded - by my counting, we're the 4th largest story on Royal Road! (By number of patrons ;) ) That's incredible for just a sin...

Chapter 229 - Barbeque

I spent an excessively long time in the hot bath Serondes had made. I’d like to say it was because I was relaxing, enjoying my first hot soak since the dwarves.

No. I was mortified by the fact that I’d stunk so badly that the elves almost literally threw me in. I was determined to clean out every single last bit of dirt, grime, and grease. Also, my nails had gotten super-long, and had started to curl against the end of the gauntlets. I just hadn’t noticed at all, but they were cur...

Chapter 228 - Incubation

The fact that I’d given the oh-too-perfect elves a moment’s pause at my numbers was deeply satisfying. Serondes was the first to recover.

“Has to be a restriction skill, and narrow in scope.” He thoughtfully tapped his lips. “Mind sharing?”

“Eh. The full details I’d like to keep to myself, but yeah, it’s when I heal.”

“You sure you can’t tell us? I’ll brew you up a drink!” Aegion tried to ‘tempt’ me.

“Are you trying to bribe her or thr...

Chapter 227 - Shimagu

“Why we’re here?” Awarthril repeated, tapping her lips thoughtfully. “Well, we’ve all got our own reasons, but one word’s enough to explain it. Shimagu.” She said, looking at me expectantly.

I blinked, tilting my head. Was that supposed to mean something?

“Do you not have Shimagu where you’re from?” Aegion asked.

“No, I’ve never heard of them before.” I said, wondering if this was the name of some creature I was familiar with, but simply didn’t kn...

To celebrate, (and to ease my guilt over missing last week) there's a boatload of art incoming, most of it slated to hit around the end of the month. However, some of it is needed today! Meet Awarthril and Kiyaya!

Chapter 226 - A campfire meeting

AN: The book give away is done, the drawing complete! Three patrons won! Two non-patrons won! In the interest of privacy, I'm not going to reveal their information, but I dread seeing the shipping cost once it comes in.

AN: Just want to reassure everyone that everyone is A-OK here! Flora's happy, smiling, getting into trouble like before. Still has me all sorts of nervous, but things are returning to normal, with no long-term effects that we can see.

Thank you all for your support over the last week. It means a ton.

The only thing left are the words all people living in America dread to hear:

Out of network hospital bills.

Enjoy the chapter!

Announcements! Lots of things inside

Hey all!

I've been taking it easy - I promise.

However, I haven't been totally idle, more crossing things off of my to-do list. With that being said, I've crossed off a dozen items, and a number of them warrant an announcement! Huzzah!

First: Paperback copies of Beneath the Dragoneye Moons books 1-4 are now available on Amazon. (Ok, technically, book 1's been out for quite some time, and books 2-4 are now out.)

Situation update - Everyone's OK!

Hey all!

I apologize if I'm over-communicating a bit here. I try not to spam your inboxes, but I figured I owed you all an update.

Everyone is back home and OK now. We had a follow up with the Dr's today, and things are looking great! We're treating Flora with extra-fragile kid gloves for now, but everyone is expected to make a full recovery. No long term complicates, problems, surgeries, or anything is expected - just a few weeks of being in slight pain. It'...

Going to miss posts this week

Hey all!

short version: no chapter Wednesday and Friday. please take my deepest apologies, and know that I don’t do this lightly.

long version: I was carrying Flora and tripped. I’m now concussed, and worse, she’s got a minor skull fracture. We’re in the hospital now, waiting for the pediatric neurosurgeo. so yeah, shit has hit the fan badly. I have the chapters - I run a backlog to be able to bulldoze these problems - but this one is just too large a...

Chapter 224 - Flying Free

I exploded out of Lun’Kat’s lair, immediately tumbling and falling to the “ground” as my wings shattered against her protective illusion. I tumbled and rolled on the hard rocks, not a shred of evidence that it was a massive illusion instead of natural rock present. I stabilized into a roll, then as my feet got under me I kicked up and re-launched myself with [Scintillating Ascent], into the blue sky.

Soaring in the air, feeling the wind in my hair, and the sun o...

Chapter 223 - Beneath the Dragon’s Eyes III

I woke up after a nice, long sleep, and had the urge to do a nice, big stretch and yawn.

I remembered where, exactly, I was, and immediately clamped down on that instinct. I looked down to where I should be, only to see dirt, some leaves that had fallen on me while I slept, and a few crushed berries.

I was still invisible - but in my carelessness, I’d left some traces behind. Crushed berries didn’t come out of nowhere, and now I was going to be leaking blue goo, which ...

No "Beta-Lite" rewarded added to the $15 tier

Hey!

After yesterday's discussion and poll, I've decided not to add a "Beta-lite" reward to the $15 tier. Sorry for the whole announcement about it, but given how people were feeling and all the discussion around it, I figured I'd formally announce the results.

Poll for adding a benefit to the Archmage ($15+) tiers

Hey all!

I've done a small trial run of this, and I want to check with everyone as a whole before I roll this out as an official benefit.

I have a backlog. A fairly nice, 9 chapter, 3-week backlog on top of what's on Patreon. This allows me to edit it multiple times, and gives my beta readers as much time as they want to tackle new chapters at their own pace. Recently, I've been experimenting with "Beta-Lite", people that just have access to the chapters, wit...

Chapter 222 - Beneath the Dragon’s Eyes II

I looked up, and up, and up at Lun’Kat. Part of why I’d been able to see her from the mines was due to whatever spatial shenanigans were going on here.

The much larger part was she was bloody huge! Her claws could skewer me, and I’m pretty sure if she tried to eat me I’d go down the hatch mostly-whole. Maybe crushed by her tongue a bit.

Now that I was so close to her as well, my old, entirely reasonable fears awoke once more. The lizard part of my brain w...

Chapter 221 - Beneath the Dragon’s Eyes I

I froze in indecision, staring at the dragon, deep in her lair, hearing the creeping sound of the Shluggoth slow right down as [Bullet Time] activated.

I blinked, realizing that I could see in spite of all my skills being turned off. I’d gotten used to the complete and totally pitch black darkness when I’d turned off the lights, the total blindness that came with the absolute absence of light. Lun’Kat’s lair had soft lighting coming from a dozen differe...

Chapter 219 - Alone in the Dark I

I ran.

I ran with everything I had, sprinting, running, uncaring about the dangers and threats, directions and diversions, nothing else - just running.

Fleeing the golden chains and shackles behind me, running from the dwarves. I’d take the terrors of the deep, the chilly unknown, bad food and terrible water, if it came with freedom.

If it came with being able to see my family again.

So I ran. Endlessly, unceasingly, fueling myself with [Sunrise] eve...
