The mercenaries were arguing in two distinct camps. Eve would have been happy enough watching the show with popcorn. Sadly, the remaining mages were on a sharp lookout for any mana fluctuations. Creating a barrier to conceal sound would have the same effect as an anglerfish’s lightbulb in the ocean's depths. The side that wanted to retreat was arguing its case quite successfully.

Eve exited Charlotte’s room before sealing it with a set of runes around the door’s outline. As the runes flashed silver and faded, the door vanished like a soap bubble popped out of existence. She repeated the trick on all the other doors leaving a seemingly empty corridor with only bare wood-paneled walls. It wouldn’t stop competent mages like those at the Praetor’s level, but it would certainly confuse any meatheads or middling-level mages that made it this far. Eve suspected spies...

Eve moved through the forest like a ghost approaching the town where Ralph had chosen to stop for the night. Her tunic, leggings, and boots had shifted back to normal silver coloring during the jaunt. Before she broke out of the forest, Eve took a long look at the heavens above, connecting to the satellite she had released earlier through its runes.
