Late Daily Friday Short: Random 03

“Vincent, is this information accurate?” Victoria Feuer asked her brother. They were lounging in the private royal gardens. The vast, intricate array of flowers tended by the Arch-Druid in service to the crown helped soothe her soul.

“It is. I had the same reaction upon hearing it. I used the Geas to confirm the truth because it sounded like the delusional ravings of a group of madmen.” Vincent Feuer said with a disgusted face. “After multiple sources confirmed it under Geas, I rushed to tell you.”

Victoria leaned back into the enchanted wicker chair that both twins shared with an incredulous expression on her face. She closed her eyes and considered the news before finally speaking.

“We need to cut all ties with the Zienfer branch families. Now. No, yesterday.” Victoria said firmly. Her brother started to speak, but she cut him off. “It isn’t well known, but Taylor Zienfer was a Tier Five Vampire.”

Vincent’s face grew pale as he whispered, “Grandfather’s Tier?”

Victoria nodded with a grim expression. “Even worse, Grandfather is barely holding on. If neither mother nor father can reach Tier Five before he expires it will become bleak.”

Before lifting his hand to snap his right fingers, her twin considered the words. The flash of glittering sparks accompanied by a sharp crack had barely faded before a kneeling servant was by his side.

“Remove all the connections with the Zienfer branch family. Make sure nothing exists that can link us together.” Vincent said with an imperious tone. Victoria didn’t say anything keeping in line with her public persona. It had taken almost a decade to craft the mask, and neither twin would let them drop quickly.

Not as long as they were still in the line of succession.

Victoria opened her eyes as the servant left, but before speaking, there was suddenly a third person sitting to both of them in a wicker chair. Vincent looked at her with a terrified expression, and she gestured for him to be quiet.

“We rarely entertain guests,” Victoria said.

“I rarely entertain idiocy. To think the Royal family barely hanging on would stick their hands into Zienfer business.” The young woman sitting with them said.

Victoria looked over the new arrival noting how the woman seemed to prefer the color silver. There was also a faint glittering aura of sparkling dust drifting around the woman.

Silver hair, silver eyes. She’s been exposed to so much mana the color has been bleached out! Victoria thought, making the connection and then triggering a leap of logic. The Silver Witch!

Before the Royal Guards could intervene, Victoria ordered them to stand down. The guards wouldn’t stand a chance if this were the Silver Witch. Someone who could mop the floor with a Tier Five wouldn’t break a sweat against a few Tiers Three guards.

“The interference with the Zienfer is ending as of today. Will that be acceptable?” Victoria said.

“Good enough. I wanted more, but Charlotte said not to back you into a corner.” The suspected silver witch said.

Victoria and Vincent breathed a sigh of release before a massive pressure descended on them.

There will be no second chance.

The terrifying woman was gone when the twin’s grandfather appeared moments later. Their grandfather looked at their expressions and said, “Out with it, what have you idiots done now?”
