Commission | Hitoshi Timelapse

A little timelapse for one of my latest commission pieces.
It's always interesting to rewatch coloring and rendering in a documented timelapse to reflect on how my workflow is, where I seemed to struggle a bit (going back and forth) and how the overall picture develops as a whole, since I usually keep quite close to specific parts while working on them.

I tried a bit of a different shading for the BG and other elements here, tho I do remember having somewhat of a hard time with this piece for one reason or another.

I needed to revisit my roots these days and sketch out some wholesome Sugadai. Even if they haven't been very present for a while, they still hold a special place in my heart, especially Suga.
Hope I find a minute or two to make this a proper drawing soon.

Two of the (WIP) pieces I've been working on for the 50k Haikyuu BigBang that recently got canceled unfortunately. The fanfiction this is based on is still worked on and hopefully will be published at some point, so these pieces might have their corresponding counterpart at some point (which I'll be updating one if it's the case).

Since these pieces are at a stage where they're presentable I don't think I'll revisit them soon with everything I have on my plate right now, but maybe I can...

Sunshine and the Samurai | “Can you please… shut up and go away?”

Started reading Kotorisans newest fanfiction "Sunshine and the Samurai" and I'm once again very much in love with her writing! It's still in the making and something I'm very much looking forward to!

Step-by-Step (8) | Three-Panel-Strips

Three-Panel Strips as an illustration style are a fun but sometimes difficult concept, depending on how much information get's incorporated.
They're a good way to try out narration based illustration, without getting lost in the complex structure of mapping out full on (short-)comics. In my case they're usually based on written material, too, so while they are meant to visually work on their own, the broader picture and its context is still left to the source material.

I got the chance to work on yet another amazing background centred commission: this neatly fits within an unofficial lineup of artworks focusing on japanese store fronts that test me in my ability to draw different textures and fill a space with unique little nick nacks.
Certainly got a ways to go here still but I'm already happy with the direction✨

Commission | Hitachiin Twins

Another wonderful commission featuring a big chunk of nostalgia with the Hitachiin twins from Ouran High School Host Club. Such a fun commission, also since I got the opportunity to test my skills with leather once again✨

Drawing them really made me remember why I enjoy doing the Casual Series so much; creating cool outfits for cool characters is such a treat!

Recently started the remake of Trigun Stampede and I gotta say I'm intrigued to see where it goes! I'm certainly impressed with how they approached the 3D animation and how the characters don't lose on any expression  (which really makes me curious how it's done; if there's 2d overdraw, a specific engine to warp the faces etc.). Impressive visuals for sure!

Since I didn't grew up with the original I might give it a go one of these days, too👀

Casual Underwear Special 2️⃣- February

P.S.: I am aware that I changed up the format already but since this is very much in development as we poll and go, I am making some decisions on the go to figure out how I want to approach this series in its entirety. For now we just enjoy each and every installment when we get to it - so make sure to look out for next months poll✨

Commission - Hinata Siblings Beach

Finally got around to finishing this lovely commission by Maeve, who advocates for more wholesome siblings content all the time - happy I can add to this with this piece!
This is based on a story, so once its counterpiece exist I will let you know✨

Step-by-Step (7): Mapping with Thumbnails and Photobashing

Sometimes a planned illustration is rather complex, which can make it difficult to discuss it in detail early on in the process when going too much into detail too quickly could mean having to make huge corrections later on or if you as the artist aren't entirely set on every element yet.
A way to prevent this from happening is working with quick composition sketches or use techniques like photobashing:
