I have known many heroes and had the great privilege to call some friends. While my efforts helped in these wars, the deeds of my friends and other heroes like them are what led us to victory. They put their lives on the line, when all I had to do was solve problems from the comfort of a magical tower in another realm.

I do not like to boast of my accomplishments. Intellectually, I am aware that I contributed greatly to the Last Dragon War. I will not suffer the false modesty I’ve seen many espouse and claim that the war effort would have gone just as well without me. I am a genius, yes, but I am no hero. There are more books written about the Last Dragon War than I care to read—which is saying something. So, I only seek to add my unique perspective—and correct some often-cited falsehoods. Many books ...

Hey Patrons!
I've had a story idea I have been thinking about writing for a long time, and yesterday decided to write the first chapter. I'm in the midst of editing Primal Wizardry for publishing, and when I'm in that mode, writing content for a series where continuity is critical can be difficult.
So, I decided to start writing Downtime in, well, my downtime.
This story is essentially Seinfeld set in a fantasy setting. Currently, I am writing it as a general D&D settin...

The Iron Knight is the name given to the Bearer of Ryn’s Blade. While not an Archmage herself, Ryn was the master blacksmith that forged the blades that were eventually turned into the weapons of the Bladed Knights. In life, she used an ensouled smithing hammer to enhance her craft, but for her last creation, she made a blade and transferred the soul stone to it. Her blade grants the wielder the power over metal. The sword itself is impossibly sharp, and can transform into other weapons...

These swords were held in trust by the city, and whenever a warrior reached a knighthood, they were allowed to present themselves to the hall of blades. Ensouled rings may greatly enhance the wizardry of their creator, but that same ring may never find a bearer to awaken its magic once its creator dies. Soul stones, when used to create an ensouled item, use the affinities and skills of the creator, and the intent of the object they are crafted in to create an ensouled artifact with a purpose. The less focused purpose an object has, the more nebulous and tailored towards the makers need the artifact becomes. This also has the effect of making the artifact pickier about who they bond.

The sea drakes grew massive in this time, and soon took to taking down ships for their precious metals on board. While these beasts killed thousands in their hunting of ships, their existence contributed to the continued survival of the exiles at sea. For fifty years, the sea drakes were the only means the survivors of the Flood had to restock on their supply of metal, and crews of ships quickly began to specialize in hunting the beast.

Before the Flood, their access to metals was restricted to the few surface deposits of ore they could find—and the metal to be found in their fellow sea drake’s bodies. Their growth was slow. The sea drakes were more nuisance than monster before the Flood. The magical beasts were a creation of Assuine, a precursor to her eventual triumph in creating the dragons. The sea drakes, as their names imply, are draconids that live within the ocean. They are serpentine in appearance, lacking limbs and wings. The beasts consume metal, not for energy but for material to grow their scales. The metals they eat make their way to their scales, forming into alloys. The composition of the scal...
