Community Driven Decision making.

Not gonna make EVERYONE happy, but now its at a point where I seriously need to revamp everything. So, again, community decision here. The question is Digital Releases for higher tiers yay or nay?

Intent: In order to limit piracy of the uncensored versions of RAGS we'd effectively remove digital uncensored versions of RAGS and move them out of the $1 tier. $1 tier subs will now receive the censored version.

Implementation length: Until I can go back back through and place water-marks and embedded security tracking measures into the new PDFs effectively.

Trade off: Create new P.O.G tier for discord. Limits access to General chat.

Remember these are suppose to be Rewards for people who are supporting also, looking into suggestions in how to compensate without have to spend additional funds that I don't have into creating something cool.

Community decision here. PLEASE give suggestions this is open discussion and NO ACTION will be taken WITHOUT it being a group decision.

So you'd be okay with the censor if they do it in a way that is more aesthetically pleasing to your personal taste? I can't speak for them but I'm curious on how they could provide a better censoring experience for you.

Exactly, Lurker45. Incidentally, Rags just announced that he will offer the uncensored version at $4 on Shopify and, despite all my protestations, I'm perfectly happy with that. It's the cost of most comics these days so as long as I'm enjoying it, I would gladly pay that much - especially as it's much easier to get comics through Shopify than waiting for the correct download links or however it was that he delivers it. I'll probably be dropping my Patreon subscription next month but I look forward to supporting such a good artist by buying his comic book.

The bunnies look silly and clash with the art. They're flat and cartoony where the art has naturalistic depth.

I wouldn't be opposed to paying $2 or even $3 but $5 is too big a jump for me. I'm especially reluctant if the creator worries more about pirates than paying customers. And obviously there's more to a comic than "nipples" and "butt cracks" but censorship - be it scribbles or bunny ears - is distracting as hell. It's one thing to censor that stuff in a PG rated superhero comic but I don't understand the logic of doing so in a bloody and sweary zombie comic. I've only seen previews so far but it's clear that Rags is, if nothing else, an exceptionally talented artist and I would love to support him on that basis alone but I don't particularly like being treated like a criminal for only giving an amount that he put up as an acceptable option as a way to get hold of the uncensored version of his comic.

1$ is how much you'd pay to get the censored version digitally online elsewhere. So I feel this change would actually be fair and reasonable and better for Rags overall. I don't understand your argument. There's no scribbles. There's strategically placed bunny heads and not that many of them overall in the books. There's more to the comic than nipples and butt cracks.

Meeki

Completely okay with this suggestion here.

I'm sorry that you've been pirated, I really am, but that is a reality of any creative endeavor these days. Punishing the people who actually support you strikes me as wrongheaded in the extreme. I only have $1 to spare a month and if all you're going to offer me are stupidly censored versions of your comic (I don't like random scribbles on otherwise beautiful art - sue me) that I can buy outright elsewhere then this will be my only month supporting you. To be honest, in an age of Sex Criminals and Saga, I do find that censoring nudity in a comic book that already has plenty of other mature content rather silly. I'm sorry to be so blunt here but, as every sector of the entertainment industry has already learned, punishing your actual customers for the illegal activities of your pirates does nothing but empower the pirates and drives away paying customers who actually want to support creators.

Ilan Preskovsky

Given how ideologically driven some pirates are I'm not really sure how well this is going to prevent them in the long run. Even with protections in place, all it needs is one guy determined enough and/or who doesn't give a shit whether they get caught or not. It's your right to protect the comic if you wish, but I just don't see what measure could be reasonable enough to not bother legit supporters and still protect the comic well enough. Which is why I'm going to abstain from voting.

You want my opinion? At this point, you're pretty well established. Focused on moving forward, continuing production - you've got the pub deal and books shipping, name recognition, etc. Original books are still available online for a pittance. $1 or $2 gets new page previews/WIP and nothing else. $5+ gets digital and hard copy (digital after one month , hard copy requires 2+ months to cover shipping). Some folks might cancel or upgrade - but you gotta look out for your professional interests/integrity too. For the record, that's still a massive bargain for a comic with this type of quality, art, writing, etc. This acct. posts a lot more than many other folks I follow on patreon. Bottom line though, your call.

This is definitely punishing the $1 patrons for piracy occurring.
