Hi everyone!
Just wanted to give an update on what's been happening and why there's been a lack of posts recently. To keep it short:
'We Live In An MMO?!' (Current Progress):
I'm currently drafting the next part of the MMO story on paper, but the more I try to reach the point in the story that I have in mind, the longer the comic/manga drafts seem to become. As it is, I'm about 3/4 through the script, but we're already looking at about 3 chapters with a total of 75 pages.
I'm planning to start producing the first 2 chapters whose paper drafts are done, but keep working on reaching that checkpoint I have in mind over the weekends. If I do carry on with this plan, I'll be sure to upload the next MMO progress post.
Also, I am still reformatting the earlier chapters for Pixiv release. Currently I'm working on Chapter 3, but progress is slow as the priority is making the latest chapter, and I work on the reformats during the weekends.
Animations (RandoWis Short #003):
As I've announced before, I'm also currently working on the next RandoWis short. However, what you didn't know (and what I'm about to tell you), is that I have redone the outlines of the animation 3 times already. All 3 of which, I have scrapped.
The reason for this is because the outlines in each frame are inconsistent for my standards. The shape, length, width, and thickness of whatever I'm drawing is all over the place. You can see what I mean in the gif below:
(This is the latest rendition before I decided to scrap it. Pay attention to Rando's face/chin/cheek as he leans forward.)
This inconsistency is due to my workflow; I mostly second guess where each frame's outline would be while somewhat using the 'onion skin' feature (which shows you the prior and subsequent frame as fixed translucent references).
(Blue = Prior Frame | Green = Next Frame | Black = Current Frame)
So, to reiterate, the way I've been animating is second-guessing where the black lines would be (without the green 'next frame' reference most of the time), which leads to a lot of inconsistencies.
But worry not, for I have found a fix!
It's called the 'Light Box' feature that has been in Clip Studio for many years, and yet, I did not know about it! HOW?!
Unlike the 'Onion Skin' feature, it basically allows you to pick a frame to be the reference (so you're not stuck with only the frame before or after), but it also allows you to move/rotate/resize the picked reference frame.
Fixed outlines, here I come!
Anyway, that's all I have to say for now!
Hopefully this helps to explain the silence recently!
Nonetheless, love you much much and I'll see you in the next post! ♥
