~ Jan 2022 Mid-Month Updates ~
Added 2022-01-25 05:04:37 +0000 UTCPlease sit back, relax, and read this post all the way through calmly.
A different type of Mid-Month update to start off 2022.
The most important news at this time is "state of markets"
I have recieved more patron messages and public messages about a recession/crash/war/end of the world in the last 2 weeks than ever.
The negativitiy right now is EXTREMELY high in all markets.
1. Crypto is going to zero.
2. Stocks are going to zero.
3. New Magic is worthless.
4. New pokemon is worthless
4. Flesh and Blood's secondary market is worthless.
5. Metazoo will crash anyday now.
6. Rudy brought weiss to everyones attention and now its overprinted and crashed.
I want to be very blunt about how i feel about the state of everything.
Over the next 30-90 days everything is going to be very volatile especially crypto and stocks. These are the moments in life when wealth is transfered between people. No one can predict bottoms and the future.
But let me tell you something, i sat in the middle of a Broker floor with 155 licensed brokers at Merrill Lynch from 2008-2013. In 2008 there were up to 700 clients on hold waiting to place broker assisted trades. 99% of all those trades were sell orders. This was a time of actual crisis, the system itself was collapsing. Banks/firms were literally bankrupt. I saw Bank of America people and fancy "suits" coming in and i knew the Merrill Lynch was bankrupt and a forced merger with BofA was going to happen.
No one likes what happened in 2008, a lot of bad and corrupt things took place. But i can tell you with 100% certainty, it could have been a lot worse. Same thing with 2020. Still terrible.
I estimate less than 1% of the clients bought anything from 2008-2009.
Fast forward to January 24th 2022. Dont be a hero, dont go all in. Dont leverage up and run into the fire. Whatever resources you have, get them together and start buying. Go slow and buy a little on every big drop. Increase your 401k contributions starting now, rebalance with more risk exposure. These are the times when life events can shift fast. This applies to everything, Stocks / collectibles / Crypto anything you believe in. If you feel the company or collectible is going to survive volatility, believe in it, and go for it.
You only get one chance in this world, and guess what, REGRET is worse than LOSES.
It is ok to be wrong, or make mistakes.
Remember, we are living in a time when the legacy media and the new age social media all survive on "drama" and clicks. I dont care if you love FOX or CNN, it is all the same. It is a massive business. They dont care about you. It is important for everyone to see scary headlines and paint the end of the world. These types of videos/stories/articles get the most clicks and trigger the emotional response. This creates a feedback loop of addiction so you always go back for more.
I spendt a lot of my life studying crashes and even more time studying "negativity" and people. I spent a lot of time studying the S&L crash of 1986 and even more time LIVING through the 2008 crash.
All of these "bear" markets and drops/crashes have the same common denominators.
Every single person who held on and added to positions in the S&P500/NASDAQ and added positions in collectibles did very well....and i mean VERY WELL.
The problem remains with people, we are all wired to avoid losing money. It is a painful and a scary emotional feeling. When loses and fear kick in, the brain wants to "stop the pain".
Just like in March of 2020, i was one of the only people buying as many Magic Collections as possible. Many youtube content creators made videos mocking me. Endless Reddit/facebook posts ridiculed me for telling people to hold on and buy in a pandemic.
Fast forward to 2022.
The world is not ending, collectibles are not going to zero. The Nasdaq/S&P500 will recover.
Nothing in your life will improve from watching politics
Nothing in your life will improve from refreshing and checking social media all day.
Most people are amazing, sourround yourself with good people.
Shed bad debt, and shed the negative people.
BE GREEDY WHEN OTHERS ARE FEARFUL
Stay the Course
-Rudy

2022-01-29 01:00:00 +0000 UTCMr Taco Man, I just wanted to thank you for all the advice - financial and general life - you've given over the years. Thanks to you in 2019 I started to get myself on track. Fast forward to 2020 and I did not at all heed your advice and like the Timmy I am I put myself into a financial hole. I've climbed my way out now, and have thoroughly learned the hard lesson you've been trying to share: stay the course.
2022-01-27 17:00:34 +0000 UTCThis is why I surround myself with you… so I can escape the other worlds bullshit

2022-01-27 05:36:22 +0000 UTCJust finished watching "Isn't it Ironic" and I gotta tell you Rudy it feels like you're listening to the Negative Nathans more than you ought to (had a bully named Nathan in 5th grade I'll never forget), especially considering the number of us silent Famlars that never message you about other content providers and rely on you to help us focus on how much fun life really is. Consider this a reminder, from those of us that choose to see the good every day, that you too are still just human after all. :)
2022-01-27 01:24:09 +0000 UTCExcellent level-headed advice as usual Rudy. Thank you for sharing. Stay the course indeed.
2022-01-26 17:57:57 +0000 UTCI can predict the future: I predict it will happen, and has not or isn't happening yet. XP

2022-01-25 20:55:48 +0000 UTCThis kind of content is why I signed up. I know your language Rudy. Not only are you entertaining. You are very wise and experienced with all of this. That's more than obvious. I'm on edge like many others as well. Yet there is a calm within. I've learned much of what you just said, over the past 2yrs. THAT is why I've surrounded myself within this content. I honestly don't know anyone that can speak in this "language". It's reassuring to hear this from you. It's the mindset and decisions over whatever physical commodity. That is we're the true wealth is. Taco up! Carrot Down! Godspeed Everyone!
2022-01-25 20:34:25 +0000 UTCI will be interested to hear your response about MZ, as I've heard rumors they're creating a reserve list. Maybe I missed some info, but either way I'll be interested in seeing the print run info, as I suspect it isn't as massive as some may think
Mitchell
2022-01-25 19:54:24 +0000 UTCRudy is great because he doesn't just take your money, he wants you to succeed as much as he does; and VERY FEW people will give advise with that mindset. Its why Rudy is a legend, and somebody needs to create a statue to him in the near future. ;)

2022-01-25 18:41:27 +0000 UTCI too am a scarred veteran of stock market crashes and I agree with Rudy about staying the course. People who speculate often forget the differences between making a living, investing, and gambling. Find your joy in life, don’t let others tell you what to enjoy in life.
2022-01-25 17:58:51 +0000 UTCWell said Rudy. I just wish I can get my wife to understand this stuff. She doesn't like to hold onto assets like I do whether its collectables, cards, comics, or crypto. She's definitely a quick flipper lol. But how can we help program someone else's mind to hold onto things here and there? Everyone wants to be rich but doesn't want to put in the TIME and WORK. Stay the course everyone, it does pay off!

2022-01-25 15:47:50 +0000 UTCDiversification If your in the US, go ahead and invest some into the US market... but remember there are other world markets worth investing into. I like to keep a small percentage of my portfolio in crypto and collectibles. Though because of when I got into crytpo, and where it's at now... it's a bigger chunk of my portfolio than I'd like. I just hesitate to rebalance too much given I can't think of a better spot to park it (a bit wary of the US market in general, and my 401k is pretty heavy in the US market already) and the taxation consequences. I've also started to think in terms of.... what things are going to be MORE valuable in the future given how this pandemic has impacted us. I've been cheerleading for a long time that land and homes are going to start to trend upwards in a fashion faster than linear growth. As more and more people are born into this world, they need places to live. Soon, the "american dream" of 2.2 kids, a dog and a house with a yard are going to become a luxury. If you want that nice 1800 sq foot house with a half acre or an acre... your going to pay up for it.
2022-01-25 14:47:26 +0000 UTCThank you
2022-01-25 14:40:39 +0000 UTCWe need more of this in the world instead of the usual garbage on twitter/facebook/corp news. Thanks Rudy, def agree on a lot of this. As a collector, I'm happy to see store shelves not being completely empty and being able to rip some packs for fun.
2022-01-25 14:35:56 +0000 UTCThe dip is now. Dips lower buy again.
2022-01-25 14:14:32 +0000 UTCThanks for the post Rudy. In principle, I agree and I've done a bit of buying in lower PE companies which make actual products and sell them, making actual profits.

2022-01-25 12:35:20 +0000 UTCReally appreciate the market sentiment commentary and solid advice. Always have to remind myself when everyone else is losing their heads doesn’t mean you have to as well.
2022-01-25 12:17:24 +0000 UTCYou only lose if you sell.
2022-01-25 12:02:15 +0000 UTCThis is why the Rudy subscription is priceless. You won't get this honesty from the mainstream. And social media has been a political cesspool for a solid decade now. Life is more enjoyable without them.

2022-01-25 06:17:44 +0000 UTCHe is right. My dad bought during that crisis. He kept buying. He even borrowed from banks and bought more. His portfolio is millions and the trust he's setup, helps support 8 grandkids and 5 kids.

2022-01-25 05:51:33 +0000 UTCI always say Timmies have low squeeze thresholds. If their box of packs drop $5, they lose their minds. This is a long-term game, and if you can't suit up for this game, you might as well return to the bench.
2022-01-25 05:45:07 +0000 UTCAgree. One thing I like about Metazoo is that it's a US company. Our people know how to be a successful business not only in the US but globally. I hope FAB hires some US suits to help them expand successfully as a business not just a card game. We know it's a great card game. The question is can it be a great business.
Robert Goldthorpe
2022-01-25 05:37:04 +0000 UTCI love flesh and blood with an intense passion. I believe in flesh and blood. I've been buying thousands upon thousands of cards on the cheap during this last month and I honestly feel like the luckiest guy. This market is such an amazing opportunity and I'm milking it for all she's got.
2022-01-25 05:33:33 +0000 UTCWell said Rudy! Much love and respect. Stay the course. The market is still wrong.
Andrew Green
2022-01-25 05:31:43 +0000 UTCA lot of Fab cards are criminally underpriced but i am worried about the game surviving and not being just another legends of the five rings, they really need more online presence and an american branch. Metazoo is going hard on their hires and going a long way to keep the game collectible. Crypto i never bother to look at, i've been in the red on that for forever and stocks are the same. I feel tcgs are really more of the safe market though, we don't have massive hedge funds in this space, just a bunch of dudes trading cards and playing with cards and buying some cards and that will really protect it from big crashes

2022-01-25 05:25:45 +0000 UTCGet rid of negativity and the people doing it. Theyll keep you from life, career, financial, and/or investment goals...buddy of mine in the financials arena told me i was stupid for investing in oil. Got 492 shares for just under $2 per share during that small collapse and its worth over $83 per share now? Maybe it was lucky but the problem was the negativity and nastiness when i proposed the idea. Did the same thing with cardboard investments. We served together so still a buddy but i dont ask him anything financial anymore and i dont talk to multiple people at all anymore because the negativity will get myself or themselves nowhere.
2022-01-25 05:25:38 +0000 UTCThanks. It's great to have people like you to help us through times like these. I've watched my portfolio that I started in 2020 (and have trickled money into ever since) go up in value by a total of 50% in December, and this morning it was down by a total of -3%. It's crazy to see those gains just evaporate..... and I worry that it will just get worse before it gets better..... but I know if I stay the course, I will ultimately come out ahead in the long run. And it's random taco eating, fugazi spreading, basment dwelling, visor wearing cats like you who help me through it. Seriously Rudy, Thank-you.
2022-01-25 05:25:22 +0000 UTCHell yes Rudy, buying across all asset classes. "What it went down another, ten dollars!?" "Buy...another ten thousand."

2022-01-25 05:22:19 +0000 UTCI would just limit your crypto exposure to 5% of your net worth. 10% if you're a risk seeker.
Robert Goldthorpe
2022-01-25 05:21:50 +0000 UTCAs always rudy! A beautifully upbeat update!! I too have been hearing the Timmy’s harp on about metazoo crashing any day. Crypto is tough to watch. Seeing a lot of people being completely liquidated from the crash

2022-01-25 05:19:40 +0000 UTCI think this will be worse than others in history due to the contrast between “money machine go brrrrrrr” and inflation. From a behavioral economic perspective now is the time to adjust as new markets will be created to fill the chaos. May the odds forever be in your favor.
John
2022-01-25 05:17:20 +0000 UTCI always tell people that are worried about this it doesn’t matter. We will go straight back to finding a water source as our first priority...

2022-01-25 05:12:23 +0000 UTCI am worried about crypto. I got in late , bought almost 2k worth of bitcoin and ethereum and now I'm down almost $600. Collectables I'm not worried about, especially FaB. Tons of news stores are supporting it and I'm planning on going in big with Everfest. MtG is MtG and will not change. Not worried there either. Just turned 50 last year and now I'm able to throw in an additional $6500/year into my 401k without penalty in a "catch up" plan. So, other than crypto, I'm rdy.

2022-01-25 05:11:50 +0000 UTCThis makes me feel better about buying more crypto daily as it continues to fall. Bought $25 on Friday. Put in $50 on Sunday. Put in about $100 today. As it gets lower I keep wanting more and more.
