The size of other things going on with the IP are definitely not a leading indicator for TCG success. World of Warcraft and Star Wars are good case studies there

Good call. I thought I sent my two cents in earlier, but I guess it got eaten while riding transit on my phone. Jasco has some good, but a lot of bad history. Their Street Fighter game has been a complete disaster to deal with, and I have a number of pieces that were damaged in production or shipment that have yet to be resolved at all. Their CS has done a horrid job at communication and since I was a late enough backer, I'm nearing the time I'll just be contacting my credit card company for a chargeback, along with all the messages I've sent and photos of what I received. (And to clarify, it's not just a few bad pieces, nearly half of what I received has issues in damage or miscuts, which is absolutely unacceptable.

Anime CCGs can not stand the test of time as most people will eventually fall off. Trying to focus on a singular property is just putting too much into it. Weiss has been successful because it diversifies each of its releases.

Yeah I lost so much money in Star Wars CCG. I sunk a lot into sealed Alpha decks and cards and even traded away or gave away Antiquities, Betas and Arabian Nights back in 1993-1994 for Star Wars cards. Unbelievable that I had 50/50 choice and made such a bonehead Timmy move....I really thought Magic was a fad back then and Star Wars was the next big IP hit.

I am reluctant to buy a CCG associated with an IP like My Hero Academia as a long term investment. Sure it is big now but what about 10 years from now?

Big words for a tcg that is releasing a movie at movie theaters. . Just saying . I know thats not much to go off of. I agree with everything you said though. Many tcgs will cone fourth. Many will fall. Flesh and blood and metazoo will be the two tcgs of this generation of success.

What are you talking about? The Naruto CCG ran for 7 years and most of the product now are well above MSRP. As far as anime card games you can go a lot worse than naruto. Unless you're talking about ChronoClash?

Yeah I love everything about the IP, but this smells of the Naruto CCG. If I bought it it would be knowing it was not long for this world.

It's not really that they fail. It's a game that just has multiple IPs. MHA is just the most recent IP and because it's new and popular it is getting a lot more attention than older properties like Cowboy Bebop or Street Fighter.

UFS now Universus is a CCG rule set that incorporates different IP’s but uses similar/ same rules for each release… the game has been around for close to 20 years. It ALREADY has withstood the test of time.

I like the anime But... Show had a Hiatus and gave momentum to Demon Slayer Kids are ADHD and now My Hero is "old news" They should of done a team up with Weiss. Like Naruto, this TCG will die. Dead on arrival sadly, and the Anime is fresh in narrative and such but no enough to save this.

They probably don't want it to succeed. They'd rather turn and burn new popular franchises to make money off of timmys going after new games, and fans of the series. Why put money into r&d when you can just move to a new franchise and put out the same stuff and make money?

Yeah universus (game this is under on TCG plaer) seems to have alot of other series they based their games on and all of them look very different so it seems they failed or it was a one and done set/game.

I’m gonna be honest, I bought two boxes of the first set, opened one, sold the “chase cards” I pulled, and that pretty much paid for both boxes. I enjoy the show and basically just bought these for that reason. It would be cool if it could gain traction due to the success of the anime, but it’s definitely a long shot. I did notice Magic players at a couple of different LGS using the playmats and sleeves, but they said they didn’t even realize the TCG existed…so that doesn’t seem like a good sign.

I do appreciate that the company wants the card game to maintain its affordability as many anime fans who probably adore MHA skew younger. But yeah, long-term viability of the game and financial growth is the name of the game here for most of us/you Rudy, so happy you agreed with those of us who weren't terribly interested in this game.

Frankly, Digimon would work better than MHA due to the expanded universe. However, I'm still unable to find any locally, so even then I'm not convinced it'll survive with its scarcity.

I agree. This will not have any more staying power than prior failed anime CCGs like Naruto, DBZ, .dot Hack, Mega Man, etc.. or even cinematic style like LOTR, Star Wars or Harry Potter.
