OP Sister Chapter 480: The Feast of Remembrance

Listen While Reading: S-ave
-----

The Feast of Remembrance began. Most people moved to the area where the food was being served, though a few remained close to the Heavenly Demon, gazing at him from afar with eyes filled with pity, sorrow—and for some, frustration.

A few looked old and powerful, likely former demonic cultivators. Perhaps old rivals who never got to settle their score with him, feeling both the weight of his departure and the bitter regret of a final battle denied.

“You left too soon. Damn old man.”

“I dedicate this drink to you, old crow.”

“I wish I could’ve fought you one more time…”

“I never considered you a friend, but you were an excellent rival.”

“Rest in peace, old crow… You lived like a villain but went out like a hero.”

Yep. They were all old rivals. Though none could have ever called each other “friends,” the way they spoke, the way their eyes welled with tears… it felt like they had been the closest thing he ever had to comrades. They respected him deeply—especially his strength and tenacity.

Together with Song and the rest of my friends, we made our way to the feast. I wasn’t really hungry. After everything we shared, after all the tears I shed, and with Father’s body still resting nearby... I could barely think of food. But many around us were clearly starving, devouring every plate as soon as it was served.

I supposed most of them were mortals who had little beyond their lives and families. This feast wasn’t only for us—it was also a gesture of charity in Father’s honor. Something Mother would definitely come up with.

“Don’t be shy. This is the Feast of Remembrance. If you’re hungry, come. I will feed you.”

She was serving food herself—her aura forming into countless hands, gliding across the gathering, carrying dozens of plates at once. She smiled gently at the people. To her, no social class, cultivation level, or background mattered. All were precious, regardless of their standing in the world.

“Shall we help Mom out?” I asked Song.

“Yeah… I guess this is also a way to say goodbye to Dad,” Song nodded.

“W-Wait, I’ll help as well!” Zero One said. “Sisters, let’s go!”

“Eeeeh? Do we really have to?” Zero Two rolled her eyes. “I was planning on eating some spring rolls…”

“Don’t say that at a funeral, Zero Two,” Zero Three A sighed.

“You can eat spring rolls later,” Zero Three B added.

“Shall we help as well?” Wai Tian asked.

“I suppose if my young lady is doing it, then who am I to say no?” Yin Sheng nodded.

“Let’s help,” Fang Shuan agreed.

Just like that, we joined Mother in serving those who were hungry or in need. Even now, despite the small population, hunger and poverty remained. It was our duty to support and guide the less fortunate. This was part of Mother's doctrine—something she instilled in me, and something I carry in my heart.

“Aha, there you are. I see you’re working hard.”

“Sorry we’re late.”

While we worked, two familiar faces appeared—Yu Mingzhu and Sara! I had been wondering where my ghostly friend had disappeared to. Turns out, she had been with Yu this whole time?!

“Where were you, Sara?” I asked, concerned. “You really are like a ghost—sometimes you just vanish, and I forget you were even there… Sorry.”

“A-Ah, is that so…” Sara sighed. “I’ve never been known for my great presence... Well, I was helping Yu organize everything. The funeral appears to be a great success—we managed to gather almost the entire population from both islands.”

“Oh, thanks for the help, Sara. It really has been amazing,” I nodded. “Do you want to eat something now?”

“Honestly, I have no appetite… I watched the speech from afar, then resumed my duties for the event,” she sighed again. “But yes, I suppose this feast was more for those in need, not for us.”

“Hm,” I nodded. “It’s mostly a charity event of sorts… Well, it’ll end soon either way, so just hang on a bit.”

“I’ll help, but I think I deserve a short rest before we return home…” Sara sighed. “Even though I haven’t been here as long as you, this world is truly a wonder. I’ll never forget it. I’ve learned so much—from your adoptive parents, your friends… Though, I wonder... do you think you could ever consider me a friend?” she glanced at Wai Tian, Yin Sheng, and Zero One.

“But of course, Sara! You’re our friend too,” Zero One said warmly. “Thank you for helping us all this time! And… I know you sometimes struggle with your self-esteem, but I want you to know—you’re a great person, with a kind heart deep down. You just need a little more confidence. You’ve got everything you need already!”

“I’m not sure about Yin Sheng—he’s not exactly the friendly type,” Wai Tian shrugged. “But I do consider you a friend, Sara. We trained together, sparred together, meditated together, and shared life stories. I hope you take your clan to new heights when you return to your world. You died—but Anna revived you, gave you a second chance, and brought you here, helping you grow even stronger. Now, the only thing left is for you to seize your future, guide your own fate, and walk your own path.”

“…I may not be the ‘friendly type,’” Yin Sheng said with a faint smile, “but I always recognize a comrade-in-arms. You were a good comrade, Sara. And as the young lady’s servant, I place my hope in you—to fulfill your duty and protect her in my absence…”

“Everyone… thank you…” Sara suddenly burst into tears. “No one’s ever been this nice to me… aside from Anna, in my whole life… I’ll miss you!”

She spread her arms with her ghostly powers and pulled everyone into a giant, phantasmal hug. Wow, that looked really funny. Is this the first time Sara has hugged people of her own free will? She’s changed so much. It’s curious—she seems even more alive now that she’s Undead.

The ordeal with Hel still lingers in my mind. That little witch will probably come for revenge eventually. She might want Sara even more now that she’s grown so strong. But we’ll face her together.

“Yeah, yeah… Aren’t you all just lovely and friendly?” Yu sighed, crossing her arms.
