OP Sister Chapter 475: We Will Never Forget You

Listen While Reading: The Reach between Our Hands
-----

I went on and on about why I was doing the things I was doing and why I was leaving—from the restrictions to why I lost an arm and all of that. It took a good ten minutes of explanations, but Wai Tian and Yin Sheng understood everything.

“So that’s… what happened…” Yin Sheng sighed. “Wait, Young Master Anna, I live for you! Can’t I go along with you to your world? Bestia is… I have barely any attachments to this world. I was raised inside the Heavenly Demon’s Inner Realm, living most of my life inside a house. I… barely have experienced anything in Bestia. I surely won’t miss it, so please, let me go with you!”

“Me too! My whole family is gone anyway! What else do I have here?!” Wai Tian asked. “Please take me with you to your world! I want to see that world full of humans you always talk about! I bet it’s amazing!”

“…No, I can’t,” I said, as their faces, full of hope, quickly changed. “Not because I couldn’t if I wanted to try, but… this world, Bestia, this is where you belong. I want you to use the strength you’ve gained, the wisdom you’ve attained, and, overall, the amazing people you are to help this world. For me…”

“…”

“…”

“I know it’s selfish…” I said. “But I would also feel really bad if I dragged you to my world when this is your world in the end… Wai Tian, your family isn’t gone yet—you’re still alive. I’m sure you can rebuild your family’s Dojo here and restart your family anew with new disciples or, perhaps, eventually, children of your own. I don’t want to deny that future from you… This world needs you more than ever.”

“Anna…” Wai Tian’s stoic expression changed as she started crying, using her big paws to cover her eyes and face in embarrassment. “I don’t want you to leave… But… you’re not wrong…”

“And Yin Sheng, I know you love me as your young master or whatever, and I know you dedicate your life to me, but… that’s wrong!” I said angrily. His eyes widened. “You mustn’t do that! Your life is your own! Didn’t I teach you anything?! Dedicating your life to a single person to the point you disregard your own life… it’s not the way I want you to live. You’ve still got your family. I… I want you to talk with them, to try to… at the very least, try once to amend things. They’re the only family you have. They were wrong about a lot of things, yeah, but… at the very least, try to talk to them instead of simply forgetting their existence completely.”

“Young Master Anna, is this… what you want?” he asked, looking sadder than I’d ever seen him.

“Yes…” I nodded. “I want you to stay here… I want you to use your incredible strength to protect Bestia, teach the people how to fight, cultivate, and walk their own paths… Wai Tian is your friend too, right? So don’t make her feel too lonely either, okay?”

“…Very well,” he nodded, closing his eyes. “I shall honor your last orders until the day I die…”

“Hah… you’re really hopeless. It was more like a friendly gesture or asking for a favor than an order, but… well, if it works, it works, I suppose,” I shrugged, petting his head. “Aw, come here!”

I ended up hugging the two of them again.

“Annaaa! Don’t leave me! Y-You’re the only friend I’ve ever had…”

Wai Tian started crying like a baby over my shoulder, her very sharp paws clawing my back—ouch. Despite being so stoic and serious, she’s such a kind and emotional girl deep down.

“Master Anna… I will never… never forget you…”

Yin Sheng finally cried a little, his tears small as he hid them beneath his hair. He gritted his sharp teeth, trying not to cry, but in the end, he couldn’t fight the emotions he was trying to suppress.

“Yeah, I’ll never forget you two either! We’re all Master’s disciples, right? Even if we’re far away, we’ll always be connected by the Martial Arts and the Philosophy they shared with us,” I said. “Alright? So please… please… smile with me…”

I smiled, even though I was also a mess, crying all over. The two of them, between tears, nodded and smiled as well.

Amid tears, laughter, and smiles, and many promises, I ended up joining them for my second breakfast until it was time for Father’s funeral.

“Hey, so where’s Yu?” I wondered as we sat on the terrace, sharing memories while drinking green tea and eating mochi.

“Yu? Oh, she was here before we started having breakfast…” Wai Tian muttered. “I have no idea where she went, though.”

“I have a clue. I believe she was preparing for something, perhaps the funeral,” Yin Sheng said, elegantly drinking some green tea with his tongue, just like a fox would drink any liquid.

“Mom?” I called her.

“Yes, Yu is helping me prepare the funeral, dear,” she responded from inside the palace. She was busy moving materials and preparing for it as well. “Song, can you place this here?”

“Okay…” I heard Song.

They were preparing some materials—specially made “pocket formations”—for Father’s funeral. It seemed Mom was going to do something big for him.

“Alright! It should be about time now. Anna, Wai Tian, Yin Sheng, let’s go!” we heard her call, and we quickly walked back to the palace, not before giving one last glance at the island’s city.

At its people—both Bestia’s people and Machines…

“I wonder how much it’ll change in the future…” I said with a hopeful smile. “You two better protect this place, alright?”

“Don’t worry,” Wai Tian nodded.

“We will,” Yin Sheng smiled lightly.

“Let’s go then!” I said, grabbing their hands and dragging them along with me. “Hurry, hurry!”

As I hurried them up, they smiled lightly, laughing a bit.

“A-Anna, aren’t you too hasty?” Wai Tian complained.

“That’s Young Master Anna for you!” Yin Sheng nodded, almost proud of such a thing.

It was finally time to give Father a proper resting place.
