BATMAN (1966) - Full Length Reaction!

I think you misunderstood my tone while I discussed the movie. To be crystal clear, I loved this movie and had a lot of fun watching it!

It's not a parody or making fun of Batman, it's exactly like the series that was beloved by kids in the 60's. You only think its ridiculous because all you've seen of Batman is the "ridiculous" over the top violence of modern adaptations. People your age today are so desensitized by what is showing now, it's a shock to see the films that were basically made for kids in the 60's. Boy I sure hope you don't watch the Superman from the 60's the first Superman movie, Superman vs The Mole Men, you'll really bust a gut making fun of what used to bring us joy as kids!

I'm always terrified when people you age as a young adult in 2025 watch the films we watched and loved as 10-year-olds in the mid 1960's. Even though I am a paid subscribed on your Patreon channel, I don't want to be put off. I think a favorite word I hear a lot is cheesy. Plus, most who watch our old films are adults so they don't have the ability to watch it with innocent 10-12 year old unsophisticated and innocent eyes and minds of a 1960's child. But I watched it as a 10-year-old in the movies on a Saturday afternoon and it was just the greatest thing since sliced bread. I almost cried when Bruce Wayne's heart was broken when he found out that the love of his life was Catwoman. But I'm glad you enjoyed it and as a woman in my mid 60's now, I am just glad it wasn't too much "cheese" for your older more sophisticated eyes. I loved batman the series and my fav episode was when Batman vs The Green Hornet and Kato aka legendary Bruce Lee 😊

Interesting. I had always heard that The Penguin's profile was most signficantly upped by this series. 🤔 Of course, Gorshin's Riddler was arguably even more unhinged than Romero's Joker, so I'd day that helped. At any rate, for as long as I could remember, the villains in this movie had basically been the 'core 4' Batman adversaries (I'd never even heard of Two-Face until "Batman Forever" 🤐).

Interestingly enough, Jen Murray also finally uploaded her reaction to this on YT yesterday. 😮

Super Sixties silliness!

Lol, after this I had to go back and rewatch Corridor Crew's trailer they did where they put in the 1966 Batman actors into the movie trailer for 2022's The Batman. 😄

Imagine a country so free you can buy a pre-atomic submarine with nothing but a phony name and P.O Box

Nunna-nunna-nunna-nunna-Nunna-nunna-nunna-nunna Batmaaan! Used to watch this and the TV show all the time when I was a kid. Of course, the Keaton Batman was way cooler, but it's still Batman!

Joe Blankenship

Holy perma-grin Batman! Loved the way you smiled throughout. Glad you had so much fun with this. Excellent reaction.

One of our local channels started re-airing the series around the time the first Tim Burton movie came out, and I watched it regularly, but I didn't finally see this movie until a couple years ago... though I'd heard about the infamous shark scene.

Wow, as others have said, what a fantastic surprise! Those of us in older generations grew up watching this Batman, and many of us had no idea that his Dark Knight persona was very different from the silliness to which we had become accustomed!

Phil Stubblefield

I grew up watching the series and this movie! lol

Randolph Tirazona

Happy Friday, Addie, and what a great surprise! Adam West was my Batman when I was a kid, and in my silliest moods I sometimes think this is the greatest movie ever made - well, this or Flash Gordon.

Jon Anderson

It was this show that basically elevated the Ridder to the Rogue Gallery status, prior to this he was a minor villain. The reason why John Astin played the Ridder was because of a dispute over money.

MrDannySteele

Apparently Newmar suffered an injury before shooting began on this movie, resulting in Meriwether replacing her in her only turn as Catwoman. Eartha Kitt also played the character later in the series, of course. And John Astin also filled in for Frank Gorshin as The Riddler on at least one occasion.

Holy Bat surprise Addie did not expect this, LOL.

Steve

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 Ah! The very first "Batman" movie. I've only seen bits and pieces of this one(even though it's on my dvr). So for the most part it's going to be a first time watch for me as well. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today and a great weekend! 😊

Randee Carreno

Lol, I thought you might be using this for an April Fools movie next week. 😄

With the passing of Adam West in 2017: only Burt Ward, Lee Meriweather and Julie Newmar(who played Catwoman in the series)are still with us. The rest of the series is a lot of fun and is definitely worth watching. However a top ten would do for the channel. The romantic tension between Batman and Catwoman was written into the Season Two series. In one episode, the two share a milkshake with two straws in full costume, the most ridiculous thing ever, while being kinda adorable at the same time. It was so popular that it became a staple of discussions especially among the school aged children on the playground. In the first two seasons, two episodes make up a single story with a cliffhanger at the end of the first. The third season, has single episode stories and adds Batgirl to the roster of heroes. In season two episodes 51-52, features a guest hero with Green Hornet( Van Williams) & Kato( extremely young Bruce Lee, who consequently often trained with Burt Ward). Alfred is a great character and a big part of the story and the only one other than Batman and Robin to know their secret identities. While a couple of characters figure it out nobody will believe them. The Penguins trademark laugh comes from the fact that Meredith had stopped smoking years before taking this role, he had to start smoking for the role and it irritated his throat causing the laugh. He stopped after the show ended.

So glad you watched this. It’s a great way to sample what the series was. Adam West defined Batman for a couple of generations.

Andre Agog

The are TWO animated sequels from 2016 and 2017, with Adam West and Burt Ward (The actors from the 1966 version) reprising their roles as Batman and Robin! Definitely worth a watch!https://youtu.be/hGeQKu8RXDc?feature=shared
