2025-03-12 00:46:15 +0000 UTCHey Addie, do you have any personal interest in studying history? If so, is there a specific type, time period or part of the world you find most fascinating?

2025-03-11 10:07:45 +0000 UTCApril 25th, Episode III Revenge of the Sith is returning to the theaters! Will you be getting a ticket? Since there won't be a second season, 10 episodes (plus an unofficial extra), will you be interested in watching The Sandman?

2025-03-07 17:38:27 +0000 UTCLol, I’m surprised you didn’t mention Strangers on a Train, that’s actually my favorite Hitchcock film. 😄 Anyway, continuing the tangent I suppose, this isn’t a zero sum game, it’s not like Addie watching a 2024 best picture nominee means she can’t also watch an older black and white like the ones mentioned above (I think I’d pick 12 Angry Men as a top suggestion for that slot, but that’s just me.) Also, I don’t agree with people who think cinema has “gotten worse over time” or that it’s just “recency bias” that makes people want to watch good films from the last 50 years. Every year in film history has PLENTY of mediocre to bad movies, for instance, it’s just that only the really good ones are remembered. And even films that are remembered with nostalgia can age poorly at times. For that reason if anything I suspect many of the best films ever made are from the last 60 years of film history, not the first, but that’s just a guess. 🤷♂️ As far as 2024 goes, it had some great films, it had some good films, and it had some bad films, not much different from other years in that regard. I haven’t seen every film on the 2024 best picture list, for instance, but the ones I did were pretty solid. 👍 You can definitely do worse than those if you’re looking for decent films to watch!

2025-03-07 12:14:12 +0000 UTCI think that the problem is that the lack of acknowledgement towards the first 60 years of cinema stems heavily from younger cinephiles not having heard of most of the aforementioned pre-'60s movies and were heavily exposed to the more recent fare that came out during their time. And I've seen other reactors like PiB & Madison K. Thames watch older movies like those too and I would love to get Addie started on that too. And speaking of Alfred Hitchcock, I would love to see her watch more of his movies, regardless of the view count, including Foreign Correspondent (1940), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941), Suspicion (1941), Saboteur (1942), Shadow of a Doubt (1943), Rope (1948), Stage Fright (1950), Strangers on a Train (1951), I Confess (1953), Dial M for Murder (1954), Rear Window (1954), To Catch a Thief (1955), The Trouble With Harry (1955), The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), The Wrong Man (1956), Vertigo (1958), North By Northwest (1959), The Birds (1963), Marnie (1964), Torn Curtain (1966), Topaz (1969), Frenzy (1972), and Family Plot (1976). #MoreAlfredHitchcockForAddieCounts

2025-03-07 07:21:30 +0000 UTCBut a rewatch reaction wouldn't hurt because it may have been a long time since she's seen Hook (1991). #HookRewatchReactionForAddieCounts

2025-03-07 07:10:12 +0000 UTCUsing whatever definition of "hero" you would like, rank the heroes in Lord of the Rings: Aragorn, Éowyn, Frodo, Gandalf, Sam. 😊

2025-03-07 02:45:08 +0000 UTCI think you would like Superman Returns. It's a direct sequel to Superman 2. Also, would like to recommend Rudy, and Waterworld.
MrAustincummings
2025-03-06 18:28:21 +0000 UTCI'd say it's a toss-up. I acknowledge that most pre-'60s movies not named "The Wizard of Oz," "Casablanca," "It's a Wonderful Life," "Miracle on 34th Street," or "12 Angry Men" *or* were directed by Alfred Hitchcock won't get many views (unless you're a pretty huge channel) - in which case I'd question why anyone who claims to be a cinephile would totally not even acknowledge most of the first 60 years of the medium's existence 🤷♂️ - but I'd also argue that 2024 was generally a rather weak year for movies, and this whole DEI BS that the Academy now mandates for nominees isn't helping (we'll see how long it lasts). 🤔

2025-03-05 17:01:06 +0000 UTCAddie, don’t think you have to answer all these - just pick your favorite one or two… * What motivates you to keep making videos? * What inspired you to start, and how did you get started? * If you could give one person a present and your budget was unlimited–what present would you get and for whom? * What is your background? German, Irish, French, etc. Do you relate closely with it (celebrate holidays, wear traditional clothes, etc)? * Do you do work (watch movies, edit, answer messages) anytime you feel like it, or do you have specific times? How do you keep a balance between work and your personal life? * Have you ever had to build up to do a review to a movie you knew you probably weren’t going to like? * If you could go back in time and speak to yourself before you started streaming, what would you say? * Biggest joy/regret streaming? * There are obvious difference between male and female streamers. For example, women streamers are judged much more on appearance (wearing makeup, clothing choices, etc) than male streamers. Do you feel this is unfair or just a part of life? Do you feel women streamers have some advantages male streamers don’t have? * It’s obvious you’re a dog person, but is it possible you’re a dog *and* cat together person? * Do you mentally approach movies differently based on their type? Is what you do different for a comedy than for a horror movie? * Most people traditionally think of work as working 9 to 5 at a business. What jobs have you done before streaming, and has streaming affected the way you view doing a traditional job in the future? Do you think you’d be satisfied working for someone else after being your own boss? * Have you ever gotten a special request to create a one time video like telling someone Happy Birthday? What was it? Did you do it? * Have you ever been recognized in public? Was it a good or bad experience? * What are your feelings on the recent wave of people making compilations of reaction videos? Have you been asked permission or do they just do it without telling you? If asked, what are your reasons for saying yes/no? * What are some of your favorite other reaction streamers? Have you learned any ways to make your streams better from watching them? * How do you decide what to wear on a stream? Have you ever themed what you wear according to the specific film? * Have there been any comedies that you recognize are great films, but just aren’t your sense of humor? For example, some people just don’t like the ‘twenty jokes a minute’ movies like Airplane! and Hot Shots. * In a similar vein, are there any critically acclaimed films that you just don’t ‘get’ why they’re so acclaimed? * What do you enjoy most about doing reactions, and what are some of the biggest challenges you've faced? * How do you stay motivated and avoid burnout when making videos regularly? * What are some of the most memorable moments you've had while streaming? * If you could swap lives with a movie character for a week, who would it be and why? * If you had to delete one movie from existence, which one would it be and why? * What fictional movie character reminds you most of yourself? * Have you ever felt pressure to like or say good things about a film you didn’t enjoy? ——— That’s all the ones off the top of my head, again, don’t feel like you need to answer all of them, just one would be cool.

2025-03-05 16:49:17 +0000 UTCI think they’d get more views probably than “It Happened One Night” and “How Green Was My Valley” and “In the Heat of the Night”, just a guess. (Not that “views” is the reason I suggested the poll.)
Doug
2025-03-05 14:44:18 +0000 UTCIf you really think something like "Nickel Boys" or "The Brutalist" would get more views than "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" or 'Rain Man" (which have had *decades* to establish followings), I'll sell you the Francis Scott Key Bridge... 🤐
Byrd N. Hand
2025-03-05 13:31:24 +0000 UTCI’m not sure why you think they get less views than the movies you mentioned above. 🤷♂️

2025-03-05 12:24:50 +0000 UTCI really hope she gets to both The Pacific and Masters of the Air. Neither beat out Band of Brothers, but both are still great shows.

2025-03-05 05:16:18 +0000 UTCMy main concern with a poll of this year's nominees is that Addie has already seen the 2 most well-known titles, and so the YT views for any of the others are likely going to be anemic -- even for the winner "Anora." 🤔

2025-03-05 05:13:56 +0000 UTCDo you know the muffin man?

2025-03-05 04:39:02 +0000 UTCShe has already seen The Pacifier (2005) on her own, but I would love for her to do a rewatch reaction of that movie someday. #ThePacifierRewatchReactionForAddieCounts
Alex Tan
2025-03-05 00:41:26 +0000 UTCThere’s no reason you can’t have both polls eventually. 🙂 The 2025 Academy Awards one would be more topical since that just occurred this month, the Best Picture Winners one is applicable any time she wants to do it.

2025-03-04 21:35:31 +0000 UTCAt this point, I'll also suggest past Best Picture winners from the 21st Century as well, regardless. 2000s: A Beautiful Mind (2001), Million Dollar Baby (2004), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), and The Hurt Locker (2009). 2010s: Argo (2012), Birdman (2014), The Shape of Water (2017), and Parasite (2019). For the rest of those '90s titles, I'll also suggest The English Patient (1996), Titanic (1997, REWATCH REACTION), Shakespeare in Love (1998), and American Beauty (1999). #MoreBestPictureOscarWinnersForAddieCounts

2025-03-04 21:25:12 +0000 UTCAddie, what type of fiction devoured your daydreams as a teen/ young adult? I had three growing up. Dungeon & Dragons, Vampire: The Masquerade and Shadowrun. All of these are role-playing games but had cool novels. The Icewind Dale Trilogy books were my Harry Potter as a kid of 17. Vampire & Shadowrun was the best anti-hero playground put to paper. Before Vampire glittered... They were emo Monsters. And Mega Corps fought an endless war in the Shadows on the streets of Seattle and I wanted to be a part of it all. Sadly I don't think any of these Ips could be made into a great movie today. Those D&D movies they made were awful. If I had the money to blow. I'd bring Shadowrun to life as a limited Adult show. What's a young Addie's favorite world you'd bring to live action?
Powers209
2025-03-04 21:04:36 +0000 UTCFor future Sandra Bullock movies I recommend: Practical Magic, The Heat, A Time to Kill, 28 Days, and Gravity

2025-03-04 20:04:21 +0000 UTCWould you consider watching 'The Pacific" the 2nd 10 Episode mini series in the Band of Brothers Saga?
Thats MR. Baldamort
2025-03-04 19:19:29 +0000 UTCAt this point, I'd rather see a poll for past Best Picture winners... and, given the recency bias that often occurs around here, *nothing* from the 21st century. My personal suggestions: '30s: "It Happened One Night," "Gone with the Wind" '40s: "How Green Was My Valley," "Casablanca" '50s: "On the Waterfront," "The Bridge on the River Kwai" '60s: "Lawrence of Arabia," "In the Heat of the Night" '70s: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," "The Deer Hunter" '80s: "Amadeus," "Rain Man" *I won't suggest any '90s titles, given Addie's impending reaction to "Dances with Wolves."

2025-03-04 18:07:05 +0000 UTCHi Addie, hope you’re having a great month. 🙂 Just wanted to pass on a possible poll suggestion for this month or next month to watch one or two of the 2025 Academy Awards Best Picture nominees. For reference the Best Picture nominees this year were * Anora * The Brutalist * A Complete Unknown * Conclave * Dune: Part Two * Emilia Perez * I'm Still Here * Nickel Boys * The Substance * Wicked Out of those I know you’ve already seen Dune and Wicked so I’m assuming they wouldn’t be on a poll. (And for reference the winner was Anora, which unfortunately I haven’t seen. 🤷♂️)

2025-03-04 18:03:10 +0000 UTCHello, I'd like to recommend you some Vin Diesel's movie: Riddick (Pitch Black 2000, The Chronicles of Riddick 2004, Riddick 2013), XXX trilogy, The Pacifier 2005.
