2025-06-08 17:02:09 +0000 UTCRachel seems to be repeatedly guilty of something I hate to see in people: the mindset that people are just one thing. People are never just one thing, they are ugly AND beautiful AND cruel AND kind AND stupid AND brilliant. And no, that doesn’t mean instant forgiveness for the bad things just because there are also good things, but in that same way it shouldn’t mean total and blanket dismissal of a person because there are bad things about them. And if a person is working actively to give more power to their good attributes than their bad, and all you can do is judge them and say “they’ll never be good enough” well you’ve instantly become lower in my eyes than the person trying to change. But everyone is capable of being small minded and shallow temporarily, so I hope that Rachel will break out of this circle of self righteousness and learn that forgiveness isn’t a cop out, but actually something that takes extreme courage and strength.
