I know you guys are way ahead. But that scene with Reiner at the table threw a lot of people off. Basically he was trying to say the people on the island are devils but all he did was describe normal ass people. That's why his mom looked at him like he was crazy and asked Gabi what he meant by "all sorts of people" his mom got up and closed the window because saying that the Islanders are normal people isn't something you're allowed to say. Even someone like Reiner could have his family killed off

2024-01-03 06:30:27 +0000 UTC- The Marley propaganda has been going on for generations by this point, so it's really all that Reiner's mom knows about. I'm sure that threatening to mentally kill them by turning them into a dumb titan and shipping them off to Paradis is a powerful motivator too. - Reiner is probably extremely conflicted by this point. He spent like 5 years of his young adulthood (which is another sad story that could be talked about for a while: how warrior candidates basically have their entire childhoods stolen from them) But anyway, of course he still probably has lots of feeling for his friends from the 104th. So like you assumed, I think he had a slip of the tongue and let a real feeling slip out. - The four-legged platypus titan is the cart titan. It is Pieck the girl introduced in this episode. She comments she was stuck in titan from for a couple of months which is why she had to get used to walking on two legs again. - The dude who jumped had no backstory (and obviously no future story), apparently that scene wasn't in the manga so it was just an scene to keep driving home the point about PTSD among Eldians.
