Also, the scene with Bug and Michael damn near makes me cry every time I see it

Marlo's scene where he finds out Omar was calling him a punk all that time is one of my favourite in all of television.

I love the "My name is my name" scene, probably top 10 favorite scenes in the whole show. It was really cool to see that side of Marlo come out

It's crazy, but I never thought of a top 3 Wire episodes list. All the stories intertwine and tell such a long story, they usually don't have super action packed episodes like this one. Even when the end of the season ramps up in terms of cliff-hangerish episodes, they're still tame in comparison to other shows that are more sensational in their approach. Wire always holds a steady pace for the most part.

George Pelecanos is an amazing crime novelist from Washington D.C. I definitely recommend reading some of his books. "Drama City" is a good one to start with, it reads like it could be an episode of The Wire.

So I remember some time back somebody pointed out to me to pay attention to the name George Pelecanos, because this guy managed to co-write all the penultimate episodes of the show. On The Wire the penultimate episode is usually the real season finale while the last episode is mostly cleanup. So this George Pelecanos has been behind some of the saddest shit ever on the series: Wallace's death, Frank Sobotka's (off screen) death, Stringer and Avon's final moments together, Randy's foster mother burned nearly to death while Randy pierces Carver's soul, and now the trio of Michael, Bug, and Duke going three separate ways.
I always manage to forget how far the season 4 boys went, until Duquan brings up their first appearance while looking like he's aged 10 years.

The subtle break in Michael's voice "go on Bug"

Re-watching this again and I would now put this episode up in the top 3 of all episodes for sure. Sometimes I marvel at how much can be fit into a single hour.

I'm telling you, Scott is a fucking maniac. 😂 The lies aren't even making sense at this point.

Michael's last scenes with Bug and Dukie always makes me hold back tears. No coincidence they show Namond living his best life after being the biggest ass of the group in season 4. That's life for you.
Also, there's no way we're at the last episode. At least we still have plenty of Sopranos left to go.
