Kinda funny how you call Omar a coward and in the same breath you suggest he should grab a rifle and shoot Marlo from a safe distance.

Also, the way Chris went overboard beating the guy implies pretty heavily that Chris was also a victim at some point in his past. He seemed to take the situation so personally.

Fun Fact is that Robert Wisdom, the actor who portrayed Howard "Bunny" Colvin originally auditioned for the role of Russell "Stringer" Bell for THE WIRE.
I'm glad that things worked out the way that they did because Robert's portrayal of Colvin is just as an iconic of a performance as Idris Elba's portrayal of Stringer was.
The parallels of those two characters are not by happenstance.

Tray Chaney the actor who portrayed Poot, crushed his scenes in this episode. He had very few scenes but damn near each scene he dropped gems.
Both Wallace &; Lil Kevin had the same fate for different reasons but the Boss in BOTH situations only did what needed to be done because of the decisions that both characters chose to make.
Wallace made an error in not only snitching to the police but also when he initially "left the game" for a bit then came back to play & as far as Lil Kevin, he messed up by not following orders, putting his responsibility off on a middle school kid & then telling Marlo & Chris that he broke protocol.
These decisions costs those two young men their lives when their lives were in their own control but their poor decisions put their lives in the hands of their respective vicious Bosses who couldn't take the risks of leaving them alive.

Officer Walker needs to be dealt with and should NOT be allowed to have a badge and hold the position of Public Servant.
There is an Officer Walker in EVERY inner city Police Department.
The GOAT Ice Cube referred Officers like Walker as the, "Black Police Showing Out For The White Cops" in 🖕🏾 Tha Police.

🖕🏾Carcetti who is clearly already eyeing a run for Governor before he does ANYTHING to benefit the people of the City of Baltimore that he just recently became Mayor of,
🖕🏾Herc & his gotdam camera for all the years he was phucking with the citizens of Baltimore way before we met Officer Walker & remember that in Season 3 he told Marlo "remember the face cock-sucka" just because Marlo wouldn't let him & Carver throw him in the back of their Police car when Colvin had them gathering mid-level dealers for Hamsterdam. Herc has been trying to get back at Marlo ever since that scene.
Bubbles didn't deserve for Herc to keep giving his word and not abiding by it but many times these Police be lying & Bubbles should know that by now.
& last but NOT least 🖕🏾Omar Little because he's a COWARD that continues to hide in the shadows away from the big dogs in the yard as he's scheming on them when he could just get his hands on a sniper rifle and pop Marlo through the window that he sits here and watches Marlo entire day without making a move on him.
Omar is following Slim Charles instead of Marlo when Marlo is the one who put a bounty on his head (for robbing him) not Slim... so🖕🏾Omar because he does all of this extra sh!t and acts like he's the wronged party in the equation when he's the one who is doing wrong to the people who keep putting money on his head then "seeks revenge" after they come for him.

The moment Michael pulled away from Cutty when he put his hands on his shoulder was the red flag for me. Once I saw that, I knew it had to be deeper than just getting beat on.

Good point. Could he not have said something like "the cops pulled me in because they were looking for Lex and I used to work with him"? I don't know, anything would be better than what he actually did. But I maintain that him telling Randy was the dumbest act of all.
Along the same lines, Lex is up there with Kevin, Herc, and Orlando for dumbest character. 😂 Naturally, all of them end up getting themselves or somebody else killed...

excited for the discussion now that y'all know what happened to michael. it was blowing me a lil bit before when y'all thought that maybe he got beat or something and were kinda hoping for reconciliation between the two of them. never! lol. and can y'all believe some people watch this whole show and still don't realize the implication that michael was SA'd? this is still debated by some in the fandom and idk why. 💀

Honestly, Kevin is the dumbest person on this show, maybe outside of Orlando, lol. Dude had a simple task that he complicated for no reason by involving a random child. Then he goes to Marlo and tells them about Randy for no reason at all while obviously lying, lol. Marlo's not even cold for that, Avon would have killed him too. Bodie's advice is good if Kevin is not an idiot.

It's funny that on a show with all manner of bad people, kingpins, soldiers, dirty cops, the character I might hate most is just some little dude's moms, lol. She's terrible. The switch from Poot telling Bodie that the people are getting colder to basically the next scene with Chris beating Bug's dad to death is crazy. Shit was vicious, but he earned it.

I wasn't even really thinking about the rape situation, I was referring to when Randy got caught skipping class to sell candy and she made him snitch on the kids tagging walls. The way she immediately threatened to go to his foster mom. I'll have to go back to the tape to see if I'm remembering this right but I think she does essentially give the ultimatum of "give me information or I'm gonna make your life just that much more difficult." It's very police and just never has set well with me and I've always felt that this particular school is meant to be a 1:1 comparison to the BPD - they have several scenes where they cut back and forth between police meetings and school meetings and we have Prez as US basically because he is one of the only one like us who have knowledge of both and he knows they are just the same.
Circling back to some kind of point - I just feel like Donnelly is the analog of somebody like Bill Rawls. Actually, Rawls is a bit harsh but she's more like Daniels before Daniels saw the light - a block, a wall, a force that you have to navigate around if you ever hope to make progress.
Edit: Oh, you're probably right about all that other stuff by the way. I think we all kind of fill in the gaps of the show in our own head canon sometimes. Until they ever start running college courses on the show I think I'll be picking at this series until I die.

Yeah, in retrospect you can see lots of little hints here and there that if either of these two is going to eventually "get it", it will almost certainly be Carver.

The one I agree with is the unused stuff in the basement, that is straight up wasteful. The system doesn't have the money to really reduce truancy. And how did she gaslight Randy? By not ignoring a rape allegation? She couldn't have known that the girl would let it drop after cooling off. And I think we're inclined to exaggerate the importance of the corner kids project because it's a focus of the show. It's not some revolution in education; she probably considers those kids suspended. I never got the impression she's uncaring in general, just given an overwhelming and demanding job where she could be replaced any minute if she defies policies handed down from unseen bureaucrats.

Amongst other reasons, one thing I enjoy about rewatches is paying attention to the character arcs of Carver and Herc. They started off as two knuckleheads in a pod and end up in two very different places but it happens pretty subtly. Whereas Herc squanders plenty of opportunities to do the right thing or adopt a new point of view, Carver takes to heart lots of little bits of wisdom from other characters -- Bunny is the biggest influence, but even before that there is impact from Daniels, and even Kima, Lester, and McNulty at certain points.

She is a greased up fully operating cog in that system. It's Donnelly's programs that have years of books and resources locked in a storage room untapped. It's Donnelly's programs that have people like Dennis running around grabbing kids for one day (she's juking these stats btw just like the police - because she officially notes them as "janitors"). Donnelly immediately throws cold water on any objections her faculty has about the changes she institutes. She gaslights students who she knows very well are living in stressful and precarious circumstances like Randy to make them snitch. Even though I don't think we know just how many years she has been in her position, but rest assured the school made zero progress in those years. Finally, although she did greenlight the project, she never personally observed or attended any of the sessions until this episode.
I could probably list a bunch more with time and research, this was all just stuff off the top of my head.

Bralik covered it well I think. It's all about politics which is the one thing Burrell understands intuitively. We're talking about a guy who has his Internal Affairs Major (Bobby Reid, the guy who sits next to Burrell at Comstat meetings) running interference for a crook like Clay Davis. That's why Clay and crew don't want someone like Daniels who won't cooperate with the nonsense.

True, but that superintendent was desperate for any reason to discontinue the programme. Everybody involved is talking about how much progress they were making, and then Miss Mason (who's still pissed off about getting shoved to the ground 😂) gives the one dissenting opinion, and she's smirking like "that's all I needed"!

I hate to agree with Rawls, but I think his racist slander of Burrell may have had some truth to it. The man knows nothing about "police shit" except juking stats - he literally can't conceive of anything else. Don't get me wrong, Rawls operates the same way because he knows where his bread is buttered, but he would have enough awareness to realise that a bunch of bullshit arrests would do nothing to endear him to Carcetti.

I don't feel any sympathy for Lil Kevin. He only got snitched on by Randy BECAUSE he subcontracted his task like a coward. If he had told Lex himself to go to the playground, he would be alive and Randy would be fine.
