They are talking about Conjure Woodland Beings and moving during their turn the moving on another turn using their reaction.

Can someone point me to post where people discuss a moon Druid wildshaping Into an owl after casting conjure minor elementals. I’d like to understand how they do damage using their movement to fly past enemies to force them into the 10’ emanation for 60’ and then do it again as a reaction. Something about readying an action (movement). And what’s this about rugby?

Lands Aid isn't an incredible bonus 2-4 times per day using Wild Shape- however it is an *incredible* ability at the cost of a 1st level spell slot using Wild Resurgence, particularly since it scales with level- early game it's about as good as Shatter, but using 1st level slots, late game its solid healing with unused slots

They have an AC now. That’s important to tank. At my tables monsters would one shot a brown bear—it got to do nothing.

Where's the ranger video you teased? Can't wait to watch it!

Thomas LeBoeuf

I can see every moon druid wanting armor of Agathys. If you read the wording of AoG, if got changed, it lasts while you have ANY temporary hit points. Not just the the thp from the spell.

Mike Cullen

Actually the druid can serve as a tank still but probably not as effectively til level 5. If you do the math and buy expending spell slots for wild shapes they can generate a fair amount of temp hp as bonus actions. Once they get to 8th they can exceed the 2014 version ability to absorb damage, albeit losing out somewhat with more than 2 short rests. At level 10 two uses of wild shape and two 1st level slots could nab you 135 hp now it's 120 but you won't get knocked back after takem them

Minor note: On the basics, while the druid now has a more streamlined weapon proficiency list (just simple weapons in general), it does lose access to the scimitar. (Redundant if you pick Warden.)

edit: add a rating for stars druid (may have changed, even if the class did not, due to updated rules).

I might be mistaken, and I'm more than happy to be talked out of it, but it seems like they don't want the Moon Druid to operate as a tank anymore. It seems like they want it to be a midline melee Combatant, not meant to tank damage nearly as much as Fighters and Barbarians. That's why they removed the defensive features from 2014, removed the defensive features from the playtest, and gave them a ton of melee damage options. Essentially, if you play Moon Druid, you're going to be the least effective version of a Gish.

I Agree about the Moon Druid. I’m looking forward to trying recreate my Barbarian Moon Druid. Without a reliable list of beasts it’s just not worth the effort.

Jason Raper

Yep. Land Druid as well when they use Natural Recovery to cast a Land spell for free. So if they pick the list with Misty Step, they could cast that and then still cast a normal spell with the main action.

Came here to say... But with 5/6 classes to go, has Chris hit peak thumbnail too early???

Ganabul

Honestly, really loving the Land Druid. Definitely gonna play one.

Jon Landry

Since Star Druid gets casts of Guiding Bolt without using a spell slot, they could cast it and Healing Word for example in the same turn correct?

Tecwyn Williams

Nice vid! Really like the new druid options and subclasses. On a different subject wanted to ask does someone know about the critical rules did they change them or no ?

Hristiyan Kyuchukov

Love the silliness

Great video Chris. I did have a question. I know that one of the things that was confusing for me in the 2014 version of the moon druid was the question of whether I could do things like grapple with bear form (because they had no direct capacity to use it in their stat blocks). By the rules, is this any better? Do I get to bear hug people?

Sean Printz

Thanks Chris been looking forward to this one. Also funny thumbnail, very goofy

Heart for the thumbnail

These thumbnails have been straight up bangers! Love seeing you embrace your sense of humor more.
