So it sounds like you could apply other invocations to those cantrips from Pact of the Tome. So perhaps Repelling Blast and Thorn Whip in a Spike Growth?

Tariq Shawer

I think Tome is quite a bit better than just 3/5. While you can't get higher level rituals (and that certainly hurts it), having access to all 1st level ritual spells (with enough time) is just so much utility. It's several invocations wrapped up in one, as the old Speak With Animals at will and Detect Magic at will invocations are gone.

Jaron Mortimer

It wouldn't apply to Shillelagh, but it WOULD apply to True Strike, which you could also get with Tome. At 2nd level with AB that could be 1d8 + 1d6 + 6, which would eventually scale up to 6d6 + 10 at 17th level.

Jaron Mortimer

Agreed. It's kind of like claiming the Gust cantrip "does damage" if it's used to push a creature through Spike Growth.

Cylis Brex

No, unfortunately. A use of PotB binds only one weapon, and any previous bindings are cancelled if you use it again.

Cylis Brex

I have a few rules questions: First, does the bonus Charisma damage from Agonizing Blast and Radiant Soul stack? Second, can True Strike (cast at lvl 5+) proc RS and/or AB? 1) The "target" of TS is "Self". 2) Does TS just augment the weapon damage, meaning the spell isn't technically the source of the damage (so neither AB nor RS would proc)? For clarification, Agonizing Blast reads: "... cantrips that *deals damage*." - Radiant Soul reads: "... add your Charisma modifier to one Radiant or Fire damage roll of that spell against one of its *targets*." - And True Strike reads: "The *attack* uses your spellcasting ability for the attack and damage rolls" ------ " ...the *attack* deals extra Radiant damage when you reach levels 5... " Third, (IF RS can proc off of spells like TS), when using Spirit Shroud, would that proc RS once per round, only on the round that I cast it (RS reads "when you *cast a spell*..."), or not at all?

Cylis Brex

I was looking at this too, but I don't think it works. I don't think shillelagh does damage ... it imbues magic into a quarterstaff. Crawford has a series of tweets (which aren't official) which says that spells that indirectly do damage don't trigger damage triggers. Here is a Crawford tweet on why animate dead doesn't trigger grim harvest: https://www.sageadvice.eu/grim-harvest-animate-dead-heal-the-wizard-when-the-skeletons-kill/

Warlocks are so cool. Assuming monsters can still make unarmed attacks, Investment of the chainmaster would let your familiar grapple/shove with your spell dc. That could be fun on a flying skeleton

Antony Brown

Is it possible to dual wield pact weapons?

Bartosz Czaplewski

Can you take Eldritch Adept feat and choose Pact of the Blade?

Bartosz Czaplewski

No. Unless it changed from UA it has this line "This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can’t be increased in any way, other than increasing the ability modifier"

Thomas LeBoeuf

Was just thinking the same thing. The wording of the invocation is "you can cast spells as if you were in the space". The old Imp statblock was worded: "Invisibility. The imp magically turns invisible until it attacks or until its concentration ends (as if concentrating on a spell)." So it seems like it might be a potential, unless things changed in the familiar rules.

Mark

Can't wait to see stat blocks for new familiar options. A bit sad that pact of the blade allows to change damage type only when YOU wield the weapon - I was hoping I could give it to martial party member or skeleton familiar.

Kaien

So now if a warlock wants to use heavy weapons he will still have to raise his strength to at least 13 (?)

Alb

Will you be sharing the new special familiar stat blocks? Or have you already and I missed it?

Cory Thurman

RAW I don't think so as Lifedrinker activates when you hit and Graze when you miss. It might be something your DM would allow though. You do still kind of hit.

James

The new Jump spell with otherworldly leap looks awesome. Does anyone know how it interacts with jump distance increases such as Boots of Striding and Springing or the Glory Paladin channel divinity?

James

The playtest version had wording that specified it didn’t add to spell damage that already included your Charisma/Spellcasting modifier, but that was removed for publishing. So RAW Agonizing Blast would make Shillelagh deal 2xCHA damage per attack.

HalfLighter

can lifedrinker activate with graze? it say on a hit, and graze mean that even if you missed you sit kind of hit right?

ETPhone

Could you use gaze of two minds on your invisible familiar and have it be the source of your casting without breaking invisible?

Louis Manko Levite

Hm, just realized it competes with extended duration Hex…. okay 4/5

4RoryVT

I used the PT version of Otherworldly Leap in a one-shot. It was AMAZING! It will be really difficult not to take that Invocation.

Jeramie Brown

Of Note: Pact of the Tome allows Shillelagh as a Pact of the Blade Warlock, which may sometimes be worthwhile, and by my reading could potentially further apply Agonizing Blast to Shillelagh (RAW unclear) which *may* be worth two invocations even if Shillelagh isn’t adding damage on its own. Worth considering, and asking DM re: AB

4RoryVT

Sorry Chris think you’re way undervaluing Gift of Shadows- if the invisibility doesn’t end if you leave Dim Light, 1 hour concentration, you should find an excuse to go invisible any time you’re not in combat. New invisibility rules give automatic Advantage on Initiative- that’s probably worth 3/5 on its own, so…. 4.5/5? Very hard not to take.

4RoryVT

Gift of Protectors: Is it that only that creature can't benefit again or that no creature at all can benefit again until LR?
