They even further f**ked the monk with the new rules for unarmed strikes:
"Shove: The target must succeed on a Strength or
Dexterity saving throw (it chooses which), or
you either push the target 5 feet away or cause
it to have the Prone condition. The DC for the
saving throw equals 8 + your Strength
modifier + your Proficiency Bonus."
So a monk does a lot of unarmed strikes but if they want to grapple or shove a creature, they still need a high STR score... o.O
Thoughts about the Monk and Weapon Mastery:
If a monk uses two-weapon fighting, they could use a handaxe and a sickle/dagger/light hammer and use Nick for the d4 weapon and also use Vex for the handaxe. This should do more damage than just using unarmed strikes (until Level 17). It is really good at levels 1-3 and should exceed the base line at those levels ;)
But yea after that the monk can not even take combat feats and falls extremely behind...

Shadow comment- any level 3 casting of light-like spell will disrupt the Darkness. There should be a feature that raises the bar on disrupting the Darkness. Equal to half or third of the monks level. Otherwise 20th level monk Darkness undone by a 5 or 7th level wizard or cleric?
