I like it for rpg reasons too. For me, a hexblade paladin is a great way to flavor a "fallen paladin" that does not embrace evil full-on, but has fallen out with her cult / church and found another power.

Weirdly enough, I really don't care about somatic components as a DM, but as a player I'm really a stickler for rules. So I took Warcaster early in my current Watchers Hexadin character.
My build looks different than yours, but mostly because I knew we had a Wolf Totem Barbarian, so I get pretty reliable advantage, which will lead me down a path of Elven Accuracy at level 9 (currently level 8, so close!). It's hard to overstate how awesome Wolf Totem is when your party is weighted towards melee characters. One of the strongest "support" class in the game.
