You know... when it comes to Stillness of Mind, you're obviously interpreting any description of a charm as coming into play first, and your ability to use this feature second. But, I wonder if it's not the other way around. I wonder if Stillness of Mind supersedes any Charm effect no matter what it says it does... as in, you can use your action to end that charm or frightened condition pretty much no matter what. This comes first, the charm comes second. I don't think it's clear and I wonder if the designers (Crawford in particular) have ruled/commented on the intention.

That would be cool, and thematically fitting.

Theyโve started giving pb times abilities with ascendant dragon monk ua but who knows, that may get nerfed. Shadow Monk should get Shadow Blade added to their list of 2 ki spells imho

Deft strike also letโs you take another ranged attack as bonus action for 3 ranged attack per round but that is limited to Ki.

Ki, ki, and more, er, less, ki. It's too bad that many of the subclass features that utilize ki points, like Shadow Arts, don't instead scale with proficiency bonus (I get this is a new design approach) or wisdom modifier per long rest. That simple change could have gone a long way.
I've always felt that something akin to the warlock's eldritch invocations could have also been a cool addition to the monk chassis.
Way of the Astral Self had so much potential. RIP monk.

You could do a kensai monk with sharpshooter and still do solid damage. You could also do a tortle 5 monk/2 barb and use Great Weapon Master and flurry of blows every round with reckless attack and get free disengage.

At least you have the right subclass.

Sad but true. I love everything about the theme of monks in 5e, and all the moderately impactful *flavour* type abilities like deflect missiles and slow fall, but overall monks just use too much ki. More ki, or less abilities that use ki. Otherwise their combat impact is just too low.

Yelch!! I was actually looking forward to seeing if Matt Mercers Cobalt Soul Monk would be a "head of the class" here. I realize now that it didn't even make the Wildmount Guide because CritRole previously had let Green Ronin publish it. ๐ข from sageadvice.eu:. The best part is the Righteous indignation. I am really looking forward to how the ranger works out.

Time to build a better monk!

Monks were minimal effective in 1970s when hit dice mechanics were different (smaller) and spells were fewer in number. That said, they really felt more appropriate in AD&Dโs 1st edition.

Yeah... monks are gross. :) I"m about to play a way of mercy monk in a short campaign and I'm hoping I can bear it for 2 months. :)
