Scaling spells video: A Patron request

This one's a Wizard patron requested video, I go over spells in D&D that scale with higher spell slots, what kind of benefits you can expect, and which ones are giving the best value for those sweet spell slots.

I agree with what Benjamin said, that’s the perfect fix and in line with higher spells like Aura of Vitality.

I agree, they've went too far with HS.

Globe of Invulnerability can be a good choice of upcast in a magic duel, as it locks down a larger and larger percentage of the enemy's spellcasting. If you have two 20th level casters in a spell duel and you lay down a globe of invulnerability with your 9th level slot, your opponent only has their own 9th level slot and whatever 9th level spells they have prepared to hit you with (upcasting their spells with a 9th level slot won't work) while you have full access to your arsenal to retaliate. Add in a shot at counterspelling their 9th level, and you've pretty much won with one spell. Even moreso when going up against multiple weaker casters, as "groupwide immunity to enemy magic" is potentially pretty decisive for a party.

It's also not consistent with most other spells, which tend to have little dependence on the caster's attributes. I think just limit it to one activation per round. Still powerful, but not dependent on attribute.

Wtg WOTC. You've turned a decent healing option into a crappy heal by ultra-nerfing Healing Spirit. A mild nerf would be one thing (though I still don't think the spell is Leomund'a tiny hut level of Uber), but X+1 total heals where X = spell casting mod? That's whacko.

My top 3 would be the exact same as yours. I've been trying to convince the cleric in my regular group to upcast aid for months now. :)
