I'm in sadness

I am very saddened by my idea of tackling a map from GTA IV. The quality of this game is very poor, all the models are too bad even for such an old engine like half-life 2.

In general, I have been fiddling with Maisonette 9 for 10 days, but I feel like I’m just wasting time trying to somehow refine the original textures and models. It takes an awful lot of time to find analogues, during which time I could have done a lot more with GTA V.

In General, the point of no return. Either I should give up all this now or continue to suffer and at least port what is there without any global improvements. Here is an example of a sofa, it has just a disgusting UV and the texture itself is only 256x256.

I look forward to your feedback on this matter. 😒

Everything that is now in the screenshots has new textures created almost from scratch, AI unfortunately only makes it worse. Those. carpet, striped walls, tiles in the toilet, marble around the edges, even the glow, all these textures were made back, I was not satisfied with the original. I even created a new door (from the gta v door).

Hmm, finding analogues for some of the models will be tricky, especially those table lamps and that sofa. I'll say to keep on going but with the original models and replace only a few minor things from now on, like the bar's bottles & fridge, spotlights, the potted plants and the glass tables, and anything that is actually easy to find replacements, like office props. These unique props will be a hassle EDIT: I just want to add, that looking from the screens closely, the club is looking beautiful and i feel like if you include the original models, it won't be as jarring to look at. Plus i don't want you to scrap it and waste all your time and work that went so far into the club

Well .... Textures 256x256 were not used even in 2004, when half-life 2 was released. From a first-person perspective, everything will look very bad, I’m not talking about SFM when the same sofa can be quite close to the camera. I always try to add at least a detail texture, so that on closer inspection, things are not so bad.

A good idea )))

Maybe release the map with no models and say it's a scenebuild only one? That might be a compromise, so at least you can still salvage something.

The question I would ask is will it be hard to look at in the end. If so I'd say scrap it. No point in beating yourself up if your not going to be happy with it.

Forgot to mention that there is no map editor for GTA IV. And the only working script for importing models from this game only supports 3ds max 2012, I have been using 2020 for a long time.
