Big Shiny TV Poll
Added 2024-09-18 05:05:42 +0000 UTCThank you all for your excellent suggestions last week. We put them all into a spreadsheet and there were well over 100 suggestions!
Unfortunately Patreon only allows 25 options per poll, so we chose a mix of responses for this one. Some older, some newer, and a smattering of sci-fi, comedy, drama, and everything in between. Don't despair if your recommendation isn't here, the rest of the suggestions are safe and sound in our spreadsheet, and we'll pull from them for the next TV poll we do.
This poll is set to multiple choice, and the choices aren't ranked. So basically just pop a vote next to anything you'd be interested in watching with us!
Thanks, and happy voting!

2024-09-25 22:27:41 +0000 UTCThey may enjoy it. it's hard to suggest someone might not enjoy the first couple, without setting them up with an expectation they won't. It's a tough spot for reactors. It really depends on the person. If you know, and appreciate world building, it really sets up a solid foundation for the rest of the series. The realism of the technology and physics kicked it off of me. The very first "flip and burn" in the show really showcases the intention of realism they wanted to bring (within a scifi series). Not to mention the music. It had me hooked. It is by far my favorite show.

2024-09-25 03:58:36 +0000 UTCyeah Halt and Catch Fire was never gonna win. People didn't watch it when it was new even though it's one of the best reviewed TV shows of it's era. Really hope one day some one does a reaction and starts a chain reaction across the medium.

2024-09-20 20:58:07 +0000 UTCRome is soooo good, and I've never seen anyone else do a reaction.

2024-09-20 14:14:36 +0000 UTCI would skip Firefly reactions if that's what wins, but I recognize it's a beloved show and polls gonna poll.

2024-09-20 05:02:55 +0000 UTCHow does Firefly have more votes than some of these other shows ππ

2024-09-19 18:14:07 +0000 UTCI would strongly suggest that you remember the length of the various shows when deciding winners - Chernobyl, Arcane, and Firefly for example are only 1 season right now (arcane season 2 in november, the others are done for good) so you could watch all 3 of those in the time you watch even part of a longer series like the sopranos for ex.

2024-09-19 17:03:55 +0000 UTCBuffy the Vampire Slayer is the best. Also it came before Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and True Blood and especially with TVD you can see a lot of plots and ideas borrowed from Buffy. In True Blood they even mention Buffy lol. It had a huge influence on pop culture and shows that followed it.

2024-09-19 00:32:21 +0000 UTCArcane 2 is out soon. would be cool the watch Arcane before hand

2024-09-18 23:26:38 +0000 UTCVoted for quite a few, but there were a handful I just couldn't get behind because I think the quality drops off after the first 2-4 seasons, like The Boys, Stranger Things, and Dexter. Some may disagree with that sentiment, but oh well.

2024-09-18 21:25:32 +0000 UTCthere is a few good things on the list but the others are horse shit my vote are avatar TLA, Rome, ST.TOS, STAR WARS TCW. Firefly aint bad il watch it but cobra kai i lost intrest halfway through ep1 im only being honest with you now if stargate sg1 was on there it would most likely win the votes hands down thats if you havn't already seen it since it was made in canada

2024-09-18 16:33:07 +0000 UTCThe Sopranos, and to a lesser extent Oz/The Wire (before/after), really is the one to knock out first given the other options in my mind. It's a heavy investment of time and sometimes thought, but it is the archetypal series for modern serialized drama -- HBO invested into this paradigm as you can see just from the number of entries and percentage of wins they've had. Endlessly rewatchable, as well. Man am I kicking myself, though, for not commenting on the tv post before this sooner. Hopefully I'll just post something to at least make the spreadsheet next time.

2024-09-18 15:02:58 +0000 UTCThat sounds really good! Plus it's always helpful knowing if you have to push through the first couple episodes of something, so thanks for the heads up!

2024-09-18 14:48:17 +0000 UTCWe've heard such great things about all these series, so I'm super excited to see what wins!!

2024-09-18 14:45:37 +0000 UTCWould like to see Lost on this poll if you havenβt seen it.

2024-09-18 13:08:38 +0000 UTCUnlikely to win, but Iβd love to see more people discover and react to βSanta Clarita Diet,β a show I absolutely love.

2024-09-18 10:00:48 +0000 UTCVoted Deadwood, The Vampire Diaries, The Wire, and Halt And Catch Fire. TVP you probably don't need to watch the last few seasons, but the first 3 seasons or so are ridiculously exciting(seems like it take place over the course of only a few months!). Halt And Catch Fire is decent the first season, then becomes perfect after that after they realize the two main actresses play the two best characters. The Wire is near-perfect, except for Seasons 2 and 5, but even those have stellar acting. Deadwood is possibly the best show ever made. (No reason to watch Joss Whedon shows anymore...they make for very uncomfortable watches once learning what he did during all of them.)

2024-09-18 08:44:29 +0000 UTCThat's quite the selection! As usual, can't pick just one so I'm honestly fine with whatever wins.

2024-09-18 08:09:30 +0000 UTCTWIN PEAKS didnβt make the cut?! π’ Im kinda shocked that few people are reacting to it. 50min eps, 3 seasons, seems perfect. Deadwood and Rome work good too, I mean love the Sopranos but Iβd prefer to finish the show THIS decade.

2024-09-18 06:05:46 +0000 UTCIβve watched most of these shows and highly recommend Arcane, The Expanse, Chernobyl and of course Stranger Things. Also the Vampire Diaries if you like vampire lore
riot
2024-09-18 05:57:14 +0000 UTCThe Expanse. 100%. First few episodes of season 1 are notorious for not engaging the viewer too well. I myself gave up watching the first time I tried. But I'm SO glad I eventually gave it another try. It's the single greatest sci fi show ever made, and sci fi aside, it's such a fantastic story that really explores the nature of humanity and the cycle of violence that our species always seems to turn to.

2024-09-18 05:41:04 +0000 UTCIf you watch Buffy do not watch the HD re-release. Get the DVD rips in original 4:3. The HD "remasters" are terrible. They crop shots wrong, don't finish effects, some shots don't have any post production work on them. It's wildly bad.

2024-09-18 05:23:31 +0000 UTCThank the sweet Lord for multiple choice. You put some heavy-hitters up there. IMO, True Detective s1, Chernobyl, The Sopranos, The Wire and Stranger Things are some of the best "Series" all-time.

2024-09-18 05:12:44 +0000 UTCI voted for The Expanse and Arcane
