Had nothing to do with the showrunner, and everything to do with WB Discovery CEO, David Zaslav forcing them to film 8 episodes, instead of 10 for the season. Just be thankful that Ryan Condal didn't rush key plots and battles just for the sake of fitting everything in, because I'm telling you, that was definitely on the table with the WB Discovery execs.

2024-09-15 00:33:05 +0000 UTCI'm a ways behind where you guys currently are in Game of Thrones (since I just joined the Patreon), but, up to this point, you've wondered a few times if the intro would be changed up each season. I just wanted to point out (in case you haven't noticed by your current spot in the series), the intro actually changes up all the time. Each episode, the intro shows you the areas on the map that will feature in the episode or which are connected to the current story arc. So, for instance, they never showed the Eyrie -- the big tower in the Vale where Catelyn Stark's crazy sister lives -- in the intro until the episode where Cat brought Tyrion there (when he demanded the trial by combat, etc). Chandra specifically commented on it looking cool, but the reason she hadn't noticed the tower in the intro before is because it hadn't been in the intro until that episode. Then, after Cat (and the story) moved on from the Vale, you didn't see the tower in the intro anymore. Basically, by paying attention to the map locations shown in the intro to each episode, you can tell where people currently are and what locations the episode will be showing. It's easy to miss that detail though because so many of the major locations are always a part of the story (King's Landing, Winterfell, the Wall, etc), so you just sort of assume the intro always shows the same places (especially in the first season when you're still not really familiar with all the place names).

She intentionally made the infection worse knowing it would allow her to destroy one of the most powerful warriors who has wreaked havoc to her tribe many times before.
