2-3. My usual process lately has been sketch into lineart, into color. But for this picture I want to try a process with a little more freedom to work with.
The sketch's opacity is lowered, and underneath it different sections are filled in to represent different parts of the character. Each is on a different layer so that every part of the character can be adjusted at will. This was actually how I painted a long time ago (2019 or so) so it will be interesting to see what comes out of this process with what I've learned over the years.
