Please read: changes on our Patreon & some chalky news

Hey Chalksters! It’s Alios, the head Chalkeater and author of the most of the stuff you see on our channel.

First of all, thank you all so freaking much for supporting us during these wild times!

The last four months have been pretty rough for the team, as most of us left our home country to get as far as we can from its faschist-like regime and try to find a better life somewhere else. Ergy (guitarist), Vasya (social manager) and I ended up in Tbilisi, Georgia, which turned out to be one of the most welcoming places I’ve been to. The people, the nature, the food, the history… This whole place embraces you and whispers “dude, relax, you’re safe here”. And we couldn’t be here without you guys: we’re so thankful to everyone who supported us here on Patreon, bought our music on Bandcamp or just watched our videos on YouTube and listened to our songs on Spotify.

We’re so grateful for every stream and every view. Without you there wouldn’t be The Chalkeaters.

As I said in our Twitter before, we had many fun projects cooking up this year. We just started to feel like an actual studio and had a great plan for the year, but then the war started. And then the sanctions, which made us reorganise everything and try to somehow keep doing what we’ve been doing.

Good news is, we are okay and working on new stuff now! Rise Guys was just a small thing to warm the channel up for a bit, but right now we’re finishing a much bigger thing: crazy and bizarre, fully animated, multi-genre, featuring an awesome well-known guest singer and introducing The Chalkeaters’ very own mascot.

We can’t wait to show it to you! The music video is scheduled for release in September.

Then there’s also another song, very different, the one we wrote way back in 2019 but still didn’t manage to release. And then there’s another project that we’re just starting up, which I sincerely call “the most cursed Chalks thing ever” (it’s catchy as hell tho) for which we’ll collaborate once again with the guys who did Crushing Thirties animation! We hope that both will come out by the end of the year, and of course we already have huge plans for 2023 as well!

But there’s also a chunk of bad news. The production’s getting much more expensive. Not only the cost of each video is getting higher, with so many out-sourced artists and animators working with us now, but the sanctions made the whole money managing so much harder. The bank commissions are getting insane, and the Russian national currency’s exchange rate is something completely irrational. Not to mention that YouTube’s ads pay much less this year for some reason.

That said, we made a decision to change our Patreon subscription model from “charge per creation” to “charge per month”, starting next month.

In exchange we’ll be constantly providing you with exclusive materials from upcoming songs- because there’s lots of them in the works. Most of the stuff opens up at $10/month, and at $50/month you get your very own cameo in the next videos!

It's totally fine if you don't find it manageable for you to keep supporting us here. So if you decide to leave we just wanted to let you know that you guys helped us to keep the project alive during the start of the war and most of the team’s emigration, so we'll always be eternally grateful for each buck you spent on supporting us.

For all the guys who decide to stay and help us build more chalky stuff, I promise that your monies are gonna be spent on something awesome! Patreon is the best place to crowdfund our upcoming projects, and we have tons of ideas, some of which will probably be very expensive to bring to life. But with the help of our fans we feel like we can move mountains.

And I'm 100% sure that you're gonna like what you see!

Sending hugs and kisses from sunny Tbilisi to all of you.

Stay safe and keep on chalkin'!

Alios~
