This incident actually happened at the cabin, in the sauna, but I figured that a regular bath would be easier to illustrate in a distinct, recognisable way.

Fun fact: piercings (at least facial piercings, and according to someone else's experiences, nipple piercings) start to burn you if you bathe in an electric sauna, but feel fine in a wood-stove sauna!

That's honestly genuinely concerning if its inducing a significant charge at that range. Granted the resistance of skin decreases significantly when wet.

Some of the electrical coils are strong/unshielded enough that there's a hell of an electromagnetic field in the entire sauna room.

Yeah, it's because the electricity will conduct through the piercings and burn the skin around the piercing. Wood-burning baths are evenly heated, so everything warms at (roughly) the same rate.
