They do, in fact, have a lovely scent! It's similar to a light jasmine.

Any scent from the flowers?

my grandmother always thought that her potato flowers looked like little orchids. i never knew it was supposed to be hard to make them bloom 🤔 good luck and enjoy!

Right, that's exactly the way I was told to do it. I had tomatos on my balcony only twice, with the second time the first batch died because of draught and cold (I guess), with the second batch sown much too late in the year yielding a harvest of *five* small tomatos. I made a big dinner from them anyway :-) Meaning: 5 tiny tomatos in slices and Fleur de Sel on my best plate with the nicest cutlery and wine :-D

We were told to plant the potatoes in a half-empty bucket and then gradually "top up" the soil whenever the stem grew more, until the soil level was at the bucket's rim. Potatoes are definitely hardy, it's the only houseplant we haven't managed to kill!

Since *years* I'm planning to grow at least a few patatos on my balcony, but so far it has only been small tomatos. Though I've been told that growing potatos on a small scale is easier than tomatos, because the plants are more robust. But is it really true about the flowers? As opposed to tomatos potatos aren't fruits, but roots, and the "how-to" for balcony-grown potatos tell me to just add some soil on top when the plants have grown a few centimeters above the ground, because when the plants notice that they are grown out of the earth and start flowering, they stop making more tubers at their roots.
