repost of the original Teaser Idea Outline
Added 2026-02-09 17:26:46 +0000 UTCThis was the outline I posted in the original Going Off the Rails teaser. My bad, guys, forgot I had removed it. This might help you all with how i envision the teens interacting, their specialties, and how the plot might go.
1. Splashy Entrance. The arrival of the runaway express will have caused major ripples in the Force, so much so that the veil, which at this time has only been in place for few decades, is torn asunder by the reverberations. This will have several noted and notable effects:
The Sith revealed. While the Jedi will not be able to discern the Sith personally, that would be a little too much right off the bat, they will realize after the reverberations of the group’s arrival has passed that the Sith are out there, and were behind the darkening of the Force over the past few decades. This will make them extremely cautious but also wake them up to the dangers in a way that they would not have otherwise been until after Darth Maul’s defeat on Naboo. And no, they won’t think the kids are the Sith. Too young, too chaotic, and they will have done a lot of good before the Sith Order as a whole discovers them.
Force=magic, magic=Force. The Force itself will have reacted to their arrival, and changed in dramatic ways, as if not only the Veil but shackles which have constrained the Force for millennia have been removed. Suddenly, things thought impossible even with the Force will be possible, and it will not be the Jedi Masters and knights who realize this first. Rather, it will be younglings experimenting with their Force powers, who don’t know any better, suddenly producing results that make their teachers hearts nearly stop. Such as turning their skin different colors, producing water when there was none, types of force based attacks, and even creating life, albeit for short amounts of time.
Disruptive without meaning to be. The arrival of the kids in the Force as above will have caused significant changes, but the Jedi Order will not be the only ones reacting to it. The Sith too will respond, and the Great Plan will change in significant ways even before any of the kids really interact with any of the chief movers and shakers of the galaxy. The loss of the Veil due to their arrival is but one of the many changes that will come to pass, and not all of them will be good.
Differences abound despite magic = Force. The kids will discover that some spells just don’t have enough power in this universe, while others are way overpowered. This will be particularly true for runes, as they are always powered by the background magic of the place they’re set in, and the entire SW galaxy is far more infused with the Force here than back home. Mental domination, protection, and others will have significant and very different effects. Wands will become a thing of the past except for finicky work for all of them eventually.
Dathomiri differences. Given how many thousands of witches exist on this planet, the changes to the Force will be definitely felt on this planet, perhaps more even more than in the temple. This will cause a certain amount of upheaval, that the Jedi Order, and eventually, the kids, will need to deal with.
Madam Talzin removal. Self explanatory.
Yenna. Those who know… know. She will join Harry and co.
2. World exploration! I don’t think this really needs to be said, but I will say it anyway LOL. Not only will the kids be stuck on one planet for at least a year or more, learning what they can and can’t do, surviving and growing stronger, but then, even when they have access to the rest of the galaxy, they’re not going to go straight for Coruscant or the Jedi. Felucia is in the Outer Rim, and they’re going to stay there for a bit. This will, in turn, allow me to play with at least a few of the other Force using groups out there, in a way that I probably won’t be able to get to in MoTF. I outlined them in the Shaak TI seen in the latest chapter, but I just don’t see a way to give that aspect enough screen time along with everything else.
Early Fay sighting. Well, I say early, but she’ll be be the one to help them get off planet at the end of the first arc and she will tell them about the Force and all about her own belief system when it comes to it. This in turn will help them basically decide to stay away from the Order. Fay will not take on any of them as apprentices however, as in canon she never did that, only going where the Force took her.
World Hopping. There were a lot of worlds from canon that I wanted to explore, but did not in HotF, and have not yet done so in MotF. Outer Rim worlds in particular are fascinating places, and not just the ones that are on the brink of total ruin or the sources of massive CIS fleets. Regardless, the kids will go world hopping, and will learn as they go. I also want to go into legends, mysteries and a lot of other things, really dive into the Force and what it could be without the constraint of Sith/Jedi.
Survival time. The first arc, I would say at least sixty thousand words or so worth, maybe a little more, will be spent on Felucia, just basically surviving.
Small classroom worth of kids, lots of skills. All of the former Hogwarts students are going to be unique individuals and characters, and I will do my utmost to make certain there are clear did let die delineations between each of the characters, and as little overlap as possible. Except in the case of Fred and George, of course.
3. What you see is what you got. A lot of kids died in the accident, and a lot of kids were saved by being too far forward in the train. Then, several of them rather foolishly ran off without a plan. Even on most jungles on earth, that’s a bad idea. On Felucia, well, you saw what happened at the end there. This will let me keep my character list down for a while, let me build on their actual characters, their interactions and so forth, before needing to introduce them to the wider world of Star Wars. The kids who survived are:
Seamus. I might make him into a gearhead, the one who really dives into spaceships and stuff like that, not flying or piloting or navigation, but building them and other things.
Hermione. She is going to be the first one to decide to join the Jedi Order completely, sometime after the Naboo crisis. Jocasta Nu, she is coming for your job! Run while you still can.
Fred and George. I think the two of them are going to be Harry’s best friends on the male side of things, and I don’t think they will ever become Jedi. Not only because they will be far too old, heck, Hermione’s going to be running into that problem, but because their personalities just wouldn’t mesh with the orders, even an order which has woken up to the danger of the Sith isn’t exactly going to be a place where comity and those who make light of everything will find welcome.
Angelina Johnson. She and Roger are going to be the ones who bring a runic knowledge to the rest of the kids. Angelina will be something of a prodigy with them.
Roger Davies. He has at least a year of classwork under his belt. Yes, I’m making him older than the twins and Angelina. He is the oldest surviving kid at this point with the three older Slytherins choosing poorly.
Neville Longbottom. A budding botanist on Felucia. Will he survive, die, thrive? Spoilers.
Blaise Zabini. He has supplies on him for various things, and some other ways to be useful. Possibly.
Daphne Greengrass. I don’t know where the idea of her being blonde came from, either canon or fanon, but I’m going to run with it. For now, she will have been taught several dangerous spells already from her paranoid parents and will also be dealing with a bit of a crisis in that her best friend died in the crash.
Hedwig. Familiar mistress of the skies.
Tonks. in case it was tough to tell, was the one injured girl laying out on the top of the train. She will become Harry’s big sister figure and another good spellslinger for the crew, as well as joining Fred and George’s over the top antics.
4. Keep away from politics, I must! A tremendous portion of MotF has been spent building up a galactic defense league and Harry’s faction. In this story, I would like to stay well away from that, not to the point where the kids go it alone all the time, but they certainly aren’t going to be the leaders of any galaxy spanning war effort in the future.
5. Clone wars, not so much. Due to the changes I envision the kids having almost immediately, the clone wars are not going to occur as they did in canon, or in Magic of the Force.
Sidious Sighting. Due to the changes I plan to bring into the story, Sidious will be outed before he can even become chancellor, and ooo boy, will that cause a lot of ripples. Completely almost (Heh) separate from the kids too.
Plagueis as a central villain. Let me be clear: Plagueis on his own could not make the Great Plan succeed. He did not have a public presence by the time the Naboo disaster occurred, he was already extremely old, and he was not a politician. Sidious recruited Dooku, not Plagueis. He was a Sith scientist and a businessman. But in the wake of the changes that have gripped the Force, someone who is willing to experiment and can devote most of his time to learning is going to be even more dangerous than Sidious with all his political chicanery.
Anakin Turning to the Dark Side. I haven’t done this in either of my other stories, but here, I will. There are a lot of different ways that this could be accomplished, but I think he will simply slowly fall into the Dark Side due to his own arrogance and personality. The one to take advantage of this will not be Sidious, but Plagueis through several intermediaries for a time.
Business oriented explorations. Instead of taking part in the politic goal side of things, Angelina and a few of the others will be more entrepreneurs, builders designers, artisans. This will be another way in which they will explore the galaxy, and fund said exploration.
Daphne, Queen of Naboo. This thought came to me early on in the planning process, and I think it would be a great idea. In canon, Naboo reacted to the trade Federation invasion by basically hunkering down, not really standing out in any great way afterwards, and not changing its ways. That isn’t accurate to how humans think, and I can definitely see Daphne trying to get into office for her own reasons and changing Naboo’s culture and how it interacts with the wider Republic. She will be the one to deal with politics in the background, while Harry and the others continue to do their own thing.
A splintering of the Order. While a tremendous amount of things needed to go right for the Sith in order to allow them to pull off the coup of the century and wipe out the Jedi Order, the seeds of its destruction had long been within the Order itself. With all the changes being forced on the Order now that the Force itself is responding in new and different ways, I can definitely see the Jedi basically splintering into different factions, possibly built along the lines of the different sects already existing within the order.
6. Not a big disaster, but lots and lots of little ones. Even though the Clone Wars won’t take place, that doesn’t mean that the galaxy is going to be peaceful. There are going to be a lot of small-scale wars going along and the kids are going to be at the center of more than a few of them.
Hutts get squished. Novus made this a major point in his MHA/SW and I would like to go that route as well. I hinted at the fact that there was a war against the Hutts going on with the Nova Guard in HftF, but I think that the kids, in particular Harry and Hermione, would get behind the idea of liberating slaves in a big way. They would start off small, nibbling around the edges of Hutt space, gaining information, and so forth, but eventually, they would definitely want to remove slavery entirely in some fashion.
Masters being introduced. To that end, there are several Jedi Masters in canon who were very much for the idea of doing more in the Outer Rim, and doing more to curtail slavery in general. They will be introduced to the story slowly, having influences on the kids and being influenced by them, although none will take on any of the kids as padawans. At least formally. Plo Koon is going to be one of them. Love that guy, and I think he would greatly enjoy being part of a pursuit of justice and freedom while also learning more Force powers.
Ssi-ruuk invasion. These guys were created for the novel Truce at Bakura, and I found them fascinating aliens. Considering everything else, I could definitely see Plagueis reaching out to them well ahead of when Sidious did in canon, which was after the destruction of the first Death Star.
Yevetha – OOOhhh… another race from the legends books (black fleet crisis) universe that are just really good bad guys! I will need to think of a way to bring them into contact with the Republic and the wider galaxy, but that’s not exactly impossible.
7. And of course, there will be romance. It would not be one of my fics without there being some romance, although I hope to make it different in this fic in comparison to either of my other Star Wars crossovers. This Harry is going to be completely stunted in terms of girls and without a bond to another Force user to help him get over it. He’s going to be somewhat dense when it comes to girls, to the point where he doesn’t realize that many of the girls around him have been interested in him often on for several years before someone finally takes the plunge and forces him to become aware of it.
Padme/Harry. It’s a really good match I like to see in crossovers, hence why I included it in one of my works already, and I would include it here. I think that Padme needs to wise up a bit to the ways of the galaxy, and Harry will help in that area. Similarly, Harry will love her idealism, find her attractive (which will be mutual) and will also lean on her when it comes to information and politics when he has to be aware of them. However, I do not think this Padme, with the example Harry will have already begun to set about fighting the good fight against slavery and corruption, will think that she could do the most good as a senator. She would instead join the rest of Harry’s little group, bringing her own amount of influence and contacts to their crusade.
Harry/Angelina? - This is possible. I am thinking of making Angelina sort of a co-leader with Harry while they are on Felucia, and working closely with one another, I think that they could get to like one another, although neither of them would be willing to act on it for a while. Its either Angelina or Hermione, and I think that Hermione is more likely to agree to follow the Jedi Order’s rules about relationships because she will always put her search for knowledge and desire to learn more ahead of anything else. That isn’t to say that Harry and Hermion won’t be best friends, they will. It just won’t have any romantic connection. Although, admittedly, I am of two minds on this. But I want the one who masters runes to stay close to Harry. So it would be an inclusion rather than a replacement.
Barriss Offee. Among his many other talents, Harry will discover that he is an excellent Healer, and he will have a lot to teach Healers within the Jedi Order and the other Force using sects, as well as a lot to learn from them. While Harry won’t get along so well with Barriss’s master, Barriss and he will get along quite well, to the point where, before the time when the Clone Wars is canonically supposed to happen, she will have already left the Jedi Order to join Harry’s group, who will be basically acting like a meeting ground her various sects, or, as the High Council would put it, a trial bed for new ideas.
Fred/George/Aayla. For some reason, I think that Fred and George would love to be around Aayla and vice versa, particularly if Harry and company are part of a rescue mission for our favorite Twi’lek girl.
Tonks/Kit Fisto. I just think Kit would get a kick out of Tonks’s good humor and outlook, while Tonks would find him a good, mature (she likes that) man with a fantastic sense of humor. Way more positive for her than Remus (I never understood that pairing, sorry)
Comments
I have, but it depends on whether or not I go with a few different plot points: specifically, if Plagueis goes back and finds him, Qui-Gon can be sent there via the Force, or... a lot of things.

2026-02-11 14:44:33 +0000 UTCOkay, so: Angelina - I have hopes of building her up into the runic scientist/natural smuggler/business woman. I ... huh... I don't want to pair her with either of the twins, and I kind of thought that having her and Harry be co-leaders would serve to show how they could be drawn to one another. I wanted to build up her interest in runes to add to her character. However, you are right that Padme is also a natural leader and quite sporty to put it LOL. Hmm... OOOoooo haven't seen this before. How about pairing her up with Talon Karrde? Back when he first starts out as a smuggler? HMmmmm.... that has possibilities... Katana Fleet being discovered EARLY. OOOOOoh.... like that... hmm... Hmm... On Hermione, that's a thought. I would say yes, but I don't think Hermione would give Anakin any hints whatsoever that she's interested in him. And if she is a Jedi by then (He's seven ATM) she certainly won't be interested in any relationship, or will already be in a relationship with Harry and the others. I can't see any infatuation lasting or being strong enough to help him fall to the Dark Side. Best idea would be to have him fall for whoever replaces Padme as the Senator for Naboo from the start. IF, that is, he even joins the Jedi. He might not. Or worse, he might already have been given training by Plagueis and be his hidden weapon in the Order. Yeah, Daphne is going to be learning and growing just as much as Harry, only in a different manner. I already mentioned in a reply her blood curse will be showing up at some point. Tonks. I won't say much here, because I have only a few plans for Obi-Wan and whether or not he becomes a main Jedi character. With the clone wars not happening as a single, massive galactic war, there are going to be a lot of little flare ups and it will depend on if Obi-Wan can shine on a galactic scale without Anakin and being pushed forward so often by the powers that be. Kit, on the other hand, could meet Tonks way more randomly, they both make an impression, then he decides to leave the Order to join the crew on their anti-slavery/corruption crusade.

2026-02-11 14:39:08 +0000 UTC... Would you trust the twins to give you The Talk? I wouldn't . ON the other hand, it ocould be hilarious. As for Padme? agree to disagree. I will admit in the movie she comes off as very... off, but she shines in the books and later on in the clone wars era. I am amused by the whole thirsty handmaidens thing. If I was going with the idea that Harry would be the younger of the two and was making a nonserious fic, I could see that being interesting. As it is, he will be a year older than her, and already making waves. As will she for different reasons, but that would be telling.

2026-02-11 14:17:22 +0000 UTCI know you said Anakin's going dark (which is tragic) but have you considered the idea that maybe it's not the Sith/Jedi that he's affiliated with when that happens? Give how different things are gonna be, it seems VERY likely to me that Anakin wouldn't be found until he's in his teens, at the earliest.

2026-02-10 23:26:17 +0000 UTCIf by that you mean, will Harry and the others become a faction on thier own like the GDL has in Magic? No. But they will become like a series of smaller ripples, each of them in thier own way and on different levels of society.

2026-02-10 22:58:50 +0000 UTCI love the chapters and the outline. My only concern is that this stays an HP/SW crossover and doesn’t switch to a SW/HP. I really like reading your stories where Harry or Ranma are the center and the story line reacts to them. Star Wars is big and so Harry will have to go equally big to be more than a minor ripple. The major ripple of the changes to the Force because of all the kids is good but not specifically Harry-centric. Love your work though. Can’t wait for more on this one.

2026-02-09 22:41:12 +0000 UTCHarry being dense to women just doesn’t make sense. If you have Fred/George with him, as since Ron died, they will take him on as a little brother. They will notice what’s going on, they will tell him what’s up, just to make jokes about it. Now Harry not ready to enter a relationship is totally believable, and might not happen until he is thrust into a deadly situation with said girl. Padme, even in MotF, is equivalent to white bread with mayonnaise. She not meek but something needs to happen in order to make her a little mote interesting. Now one idea I saw that never went anywhere was, since he was that he had to also date the handmaiden’s because they are thirsty and they really can’t have their own boyfriends. Anyway without the rizz killer that was Ron, and going through puberty, mental/ Trauma would be the only way that he isn’t knee deep in women.

2026-02-09 20:43:09 +0000 UTCI'm not sure about Harry/Angelina. If her identity is going to be sporty girl/den mother, Padme kind of already has that covered. The Jedi also tend to be very sporty. It feels like Angelina wouldn't have enough of her own identity, much like in the books where she was just one of the three Flying Foxes. You've mentioned that Hermione is much more inclined towards the Jedi Order. Is there a chance of her actually joining? If so, then maybe she could replace Padme for Anakin. The two are very similar in personality and appearance. Intelligent, Opinionated, Brave, Bossy, Compassionate, a bit naive. Grow up to be gorgeous, willowy brunettes with brown eyes. Barriss could be fun and controversial. No notes. I want to see Daphne in a relationship, ideally with Harry, but mostly just because of how her upbringing and the family blood curse would impact that relationship. Fred/George/Aayla - No notes. Tonks/Kit Fisto - As mentioned in my other post, I kind of like Tonks/Obi-Wan. He reminds me a lot of Remus, and not just the British accent. Both men were excellent natural teachers, showing great compassion for their students, albeit that Obi-Wan was under the restrictions of the Jedi Code. It should also be noted that what Anakin really needed was a father figure, not a teacher. Both found themselves alienated from the ones they loved for mostly self-imposed reasons. Both chose to live their lives in seclusion as a way to protect others, and yet this meant that they weren’t where they were needed most (Harry with the Dursleys, Jedi being hunted down by the GJP) I think Tonks would be great for bringing Obi-Wan out of his shell. She's also far less stuck-up than Satine.

2026-02-09 18:32:08 +0000 UTCYes, see the two chapters I've posted. I will say she's also a romantic interest, but hasn't yet jumped to the forefront of that race.
